Problems with Crossfader MIDI-Mapping

NOTE: Please use the search function above before posting to avoid creating duplicate topics.

I don’t need a Crossfader. To disable the crossfader I removed the Midi-Mapping for the crossfader. That works, but then there is a problem: You can not select the Hardware-Modus anymore, because the Hardware-Modus needs a MIDI-Mapping for the crossfader ( WHY ???). I tried these with a XONE K3, FLX2, FLX4. So I have to waste a controller-knob on my K3, if I want to use the Hardware-Modus.

  • Is there another way, to use the Hardware-Modus?
  • Can I disable the Crossfader in the software?

Hi @T_Boyle, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the detailed info. Please note that Hardware Mode is only supported when you have a Crossfader MIDI mapped. I recommend you remap the crossfader and try one of the following workarounds instead:

  1. Switch to 4 Deck Mode and set the Crossfader Assignment for each Deck to Thru.
  2. Navigate to the djay Settings>MIDI Devices>Scratch Settings and enable Crossfader Cutting Mode - this basically turns the crossfader into an on/off switch so as long as the position is not at either end of the range it will be full open.

Thank you for the answer.

Switch to 4 Deck Mode and set the Crossfader Assignment for each Deck to Thru. –> This works, but this isn’t a solution for me, because you have to do this every time you start the App.

Navigate to the djay Settings>MIDI Devices>Scratch Settings and enable Crossfader Cutting Mode –> Yes this works and helps a lot

But I still have to waste one knob in my Xone K3 for Midi-Mapping Crossfade to get th Hardware-Mode. Why do you need this?

You’re welcome @T_Boyle. This is required because Hardware Mode removes the onscreen Crossfader. So if you connect a device that doesn’t have a physical crossfader, there are situations where the crossfader could potentially be on one side or the other and the user would have no way of knowing why they have no audio output on one of the decks.

We do have an existing Suggestion Topic for disabling the Crossfader if you would like to upvote it.
