Problems with Reloop RMX-95

  • Device model : IPAD 10th generation
  • Version of operating system : IOS18.5
  • Version of djay : 5.3.3
  • Hardware/controllers used: Reloop RMX-95 + 2 Denon LC6000

Your question/suggestion/feedback:
Just bought a Reloop RMX-95 mixer to pair with my 2 Denon LC6000 and I regret the purchase. I like the unit but I have 2 issues:

  1. Distorted sound after 5 minutes of playing. It is really useless. you have to restart djay to make it go away. More people have complained about this on this forum. It is really a disaster. I have it in both external and internal mode. I have been using the 2 Denon players with my Reloop Beatpad 2 without any issue.
  2. The crossfader does nothing in external hardware mode. Maybe I need to set it up to make it work but to me it is not really clear. The crossfader does not even work for external line in sources. I can play music with volume faders if crossfader is in thru mode but when selecting A or B the music cannot be heard and crossfader just does not do anything.

Help!!!

Hi @Swamp, welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

  1. How exactly are you connecting everything to your iPad? Are you using any adapters or USB hubs? Photos of everything would be helpful.
  2. Is your iPad also connected to power and charging normally?
  3. Have you installed the latest firmware for the RMX-95 and both LC6000s from the manufacturer websites?
  4. Are you running any other applications in the background or doing an iCloud backup?

Thanks for you quick reply:

  1. I have connected iPad via usb hub - Reloop stand hub. But afterwards I have also directly connected iPad to RMX-95. Same result.
  2. Via hub it was charging normally. Directly connected of course not.
  3. Latest firmware: yes.
  4. No other applications or iCloud backup

You’re welcome @Swamp. I would try a different USB cable between your hub and the RMX. Ideally a high quality one with dual ferrites on either end.

I have tried different cables including an expensive one. But I will give it another shot. (I am skeptical this is the issue).

Any input on the crossfader question?

Regarding the Crossfader, with the RMX connected to you iPad, can you please share some screenshots of your Audio Devices and MIDI Devices settings?

Also, are you using the (build in) MIDI mapping or a customer edit?

Thanks for the screenshots @Swamp.

  1. Can you please scroll down in the Audio Devices and select Reset to Defaults
  2. What is your Crossfader Curve setting in Settings>Sound
  3. Also, in the MIDI Devices page, make sure Crossfader Cutting Mode is disabled.

@Slak_Jaw Thanks.

  1. Done
  2. Had it at cut. Changed it to default now
  3. Crossfader cutting mode was already disabled.

No impact. Problems still there

You’re welcome @Swamp, please close djay and follow the procedure below to perform a Forced Restart of your iOS device:

  1. iPhone: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (CA)
  2. iPad: Force restart iPad - Apple Support (IE)

After rebooting, please open the MIDI Learn tool within djay then move the Crossfader and share a screenshot of the mapping.

@Swamp are you using the (built-in) MIDI mapping or an edited version?

The Built-in version

Okay, thanks for confirming @Swamp. I don’t have access to this hardware to check for myself so I’ll need to check with our hardware engineering team on Monday to see if they have any other suggestions. In the meantime, the only other thing I can think to try is a fresh djay installation. If you want to give that a shot, please see below.

I suggest that you backup your djay Media Library database and any custom MIDI mappings, then uninstall djay, reboot your device, and reinstall the latest version of djay. You can find the files above in the following location:

iOS: using the Files App, navigate to Locations->On My iPhone/iPad->djay->User Data

Copy the files to a new location or external drive before uninstalling djay. After reinstallation, you can simply copy these files back to their original locations to maintain your Hot Cues, Saved Loops, My Collection Playlists, History and Queue.

The Reloop RMX-95 has known issues with iPad (iOS 18.5) and djay 5.3.3, including distorted audio after a few minutes, likely due to firmware or USB audio conflicts—restarting djay temporarily fixes it. The crossfader not working in external mode is expected, as external mode bypasses djay’s internal mixer; to use the crossfader, ensure the mixer’s channel assign switches are set correctly (A/B), and check the RMX-95’s utility menu to enable crossfader functions. Firmware updates from Reloop or app updates from Algoriddim may be needed to fully resolve these issues.
