RANE Performer right screen goes blank

I’m not sure whether to start another thread or add to this one. Feel free to move this if it’s a separate issue.

I took the plunge and bought a Performer after many months of watching reviews as research (Newsflash - it’s awesome). Amazon resale came up with one at very decent price and I jumped at it. I normally play House, but I want to learn to scratch and since I was a vinyl DJ a (very) long time ago, the Performer seemed like a the best bet going forward. I need 4 channels.

On the first night of playing just House with long blends and no scratching everything was brilliant. No signs of any screens going blank or any other problems.
On the 2nd night I started playing drum loops and scratches for practice, and the screens froze after about half an hour. Using the info provided here I was able to switch the usb inputs from one to another and it reset the screens. About another 10 minutes later they had frozen again. I’ll be honest, this isn’t anywhere near a deal breaker for me, but I thought you might want to know.

I’m using the latest DJay Pro and an M1 mac mini. Performer has been updated to the latest firmware.

Since using djay Pro version 5.4.2, I haven’t had a blank right screen. What remains an issue is the delay in the stems when you have the keylock enabled. Turning it off improves significantly.
I’m using a MacBook Pro M4 Max with 36 GB RAM and a Sequoia 15.7"
Rane Performer v1.3.0.13 (Latest Version)

If you disabled realized the library view you won’t lose the screens.

It happened in the 2 gigs I had this weekend. I use a Mac Air M2, Djay, macOS and firmware to latest release. I will try the library view method, I don’t use it.
Also I have 2 other bugs to report, with the EQ modes and accapela and instrumental buttons light not working correctly.

In my case, I found the workaround is to first open djay pro and then connect the performer. Then, I load a song onto the right deck, and there’s no more blank screen.

What definitely bothers me after several gigs is:

  1. The delay when starting a song from the stop (that turntable noise with a second’s start time).
  2. The delay in the stems when you have the keylock activated.

Mins still working great so long as library view disabled.

Stem split worked all night for me tonight. There was still a minor sound delay (I get a delay when switching to auto mix also if I have to eat or run to the bathroom). I realized part of my problem the other week was my fault. I ran an iPod as a line input on channel 3 and set the crossfader to “through.” This mad my track go acapella only since channel 3 was on line not usb. I still don’t think it’s completely fixed but that explains why stem split was only working on one deck for me the other week.

Hello everyone, our engineering team is still working on a permanent solution for this. In the meantime, they have discovered a workaround:

  • Go to Menu on the Rane Performer (SHIFT + HW/SW FX)
  • Navigate to “Wheel Display”
  • Navigate to “Library View”
  • Set to “NO”

This disables showing the media library on the Performer displays, but prevented the crash in our testing. I hope that helps!

Many thanks for confirming that, somebody already said that in the forum and since then I haven’t had any screen related issues :ok_hand:

You’re welcome @DjLemart. Thanks for the follow up.

I was so hyped to use DJ Pro with the Rane Performer, I just really want a top tier library management tool, which Serato isn’t.

Scrolling through tracks on the jog wheels is my #1 fav feature of the Performer. Hope this gets fixed because I cancelled my DJ Pro Subscrition once I got those crashes.

Hi @J_Lab, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the feedback.

So, I switched to using MacOS and am happy to say the Performer is working just fine.

Loving DJAY pro!

Thanks for the follow up @J_Lab

Hi J_Lab I disabled that feature on my Performer long ago to avoid the black screen, can I feel confident to enable it again with no issues? I’ve never used windows with Djay Pro. Thanks in advance.

Last night, during a session of almost 5 hours, I didn’t have any issues with the displays, so it could be considered resolved. Thank you very much for your excellent support.
