RANE System One Support

You mean IF it begins :joy:

He’ll be lucky if the required firmware update AND the djay Pro update get released within the return timeframe.

More confusing to me though is that it’s been designed to be used standalone, so why be so concerned about when the DJ software will be released?

I too was baffled by that approach.

Of course, no one knows if or when that will happen. But it has already been demonstrated that it is supported, so it should only be a matter of time. If things go badly, the controller will simply be returned and a new one ordered - it’s that simple.

And if it all actually works, if you can connect your iPhone or iPad, see Djay on the screen, and use your stored or streamed music, it’s only a small step away from being truly standalone, at least no further than a plugged-in USB stick

Exactly. I think it will get sorted. Rane have stated themselves djay pro will be supported. If you plug your iPhone in it will be like just having an external storage device plugged in. Put the phone to one side and :collision:. Work solely from the System One.

Simple maybe, but pointless. Why send it back? Why not just keep it and wait for the support?

Why test for recognition when the update hasn’t been released yet?

The only ā€œsong and danceā€ seems to be from the poster.

I would never buy a controller because of a piece of software, but false promises have been made too many times with Algoriddim, this is the 3rd controller I’ve had that claimed to eventually work with djay pro and ended not getting anywhere after months of promises, then blaming the manufacturer and everyone else except themselves, to the point that people just gave up.

It’s simple, go look at the controllers on their supported page and you will see nothing that is truly a commercial or professional product listed, many new controllers have built in screens but all fall in the unsupported category, pioneer, Denon, etc… go read the forums on those controllers and see the pattern of response from Algoriddim. I’m not trying to upset the fans here, I love this software more than any other I have used, but their support is nothing but false hopes. I sure hope this one will be different but you can already see in this thread, they are claiming delays… this is just step 1.

Very simple response … their software supports Spotify integration, the controller doesn’t period

The next Engine firmware update will give some insight… So until then keep your fingers cross.

What were the other two controllers and can you link the official wording from Algoriddim that stated they would be supported? I’m fairly new to the software so genuinely curious about it.

Ah right, so when you say ā€œunsupportedā€ what you actually mean is that the screen doesn’t work.

The devices themselves ARE supported, and do control the software.

It could be said that the screen on the equipment is not necessary - because you’re connecting it to device that has a screen (computer/tablet/phone).

The System One works differently to previous units though, because it always runs the onboard OS, even when connected to a computer/tablet/phone, so the screen will be on - it’s like two computers communicating, rather that one computer being controlled via MIDI/HID.

That’s why Algoriddim are so keen to say the screen is ā€œsupportedā€, because it will work anyway. They don’t have to ā€œsupportā€ it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyone with a Rane System One - if you have a VirtualDJ Pro license, you can offer your services to beta test VDJ with the System One. Atomix are asking for volunteers over on their forum.

That’s a good find. I’ve never tried virtual DJ would beta test if they offered a free license :joy:

Judging from the rev 5 which djay never got the jogs right. The RANE one mk2 so many layers missing . I’d be surprised if djay supports 90% of the system one’s features. It’s like they say ok it’s good enough let’s move on. I’ll stick with RANE MK2 and hope they finish the mapping by the end of the year

I don’t want to get into bashing Devs for this and that.

But I have to say, from my experience, the Devs that work on the controller mappings for Virtual DJ, often end up making the controller work with their software better than the original Serato/Rekordbox implementation.

  1. any word on this update?

Hi @Troydjmixer1, welcome to the Community! I’ve merged your new topic with this existing one. As noted above, support for this hardware has been delayed as our engineering team continues to work with RANE on a firmware update. I’ll share more news here when I have it. Thanks!

Sorry to bother you, im starting my dj career at a new bar that hired me because they were impressed with my mixing. I feel embarrassed playing in front of everyone and taking requests mixing on my phone, the house board is the rane system one. It would be such a dream come true for the hardware to become supported.

Do you have any time estimation at all on release so I can plan? I really don’t want to switch to serato, but if support doesn’t come out soon I’ll be forced to along with buying a laptop.

If you have remotely any update at all, it would give me a lot of hope! Thank you.

All the information is above, the firmware is currently being tested and not ready for release. Nobody knows how long it will take.

why don’t you download Engine DJ and create a USB drive with your tracks and use that on the System One. If you’re being offered gigs you should be at the stage where this isn’t an issue.

Somebody does know how long it will take roughly, that’s for sure.

Also I don’t offer to do gigs, was hired to run lighting but had to cover for the DJ one night and they were impressed with my mixing using only my phone.

I could use engine DJ for sure to prep tracks, but djay pro has much better effects in my opinion than the system one to use for transitions, also the cross fader effects, better stems, and the best beatgrids.

This is the answer.
