Songs momentarily freeze

Bad news Adrian, yesterday night I faced back again the issue, even if I have to say that it appeared only one time in the night and it was much lighter than before. It means that the song didn’t freeze completely but was just like bluring as having a dirty noise in it and temporary slowed down in speed.
So, I think, the work to rebuild the iTunes database was not so bad.

I paid attention to what I did before it appeared.
If I remember well the sequence was:

  • I was playing as usual with Autoplay queue as placeholder but without autoplay running
  • meantime I launched an BPM analysis over a couple of playlists (in which there were some song with spanish accented chars)
  • launched Autoplay for a couple of songs and then stopped it
  • After a while it happened

I realized also at the end of my performance that the played history has been truncated. It’s missing the first part of the night, so I’m afraid that this is in correspondence of the issue. I can’t state 100% but I’m almost sure because the issue was more or less in the middle of the night.

Hope this could help resolve the issue.

Did you use Keylock?

No

Did the software correspond to the tempo change?

No

Do you use an external sound card?

Yes, iMic

Can you give some further information on your Mac?

are the same I gave you in another comment some while ago (see upstairs)
MacBook Air Mid 2012 with latest software (Mac, iTunes and Djay)

The freezing song is random, when it happen I play the same song a second time and it will not freeze again.
My iTunes library is now super-clean and there no way that it is caused from it.
I lively suggest to work together with iTunes developers in order to understand where the integration between the 2 apps is breaking.

In my opinion, the fact that when you start Djay Pro you don’t see songs and playlists in the same way iTunes is showing is clearly a message that Djay is not reading fine from the iTunes library. I remember that this was not happening with previous Djay version (the non-pro one)

Up to you to find the reason why this is happening.

Hi support

Any news on this topic??
How is possible that this is still unresolved after 2 years?!?!?

It happens systematically to me.
Just follow this steps and you will experience the same

  1. Put some songs in the Automix placeholder (let’s say 15 songs)
  2. Start playing the songs from the Automix placeholder without activating it
  3. After some songs played, start Automix and keep it running for at least 2 songs till the end
  4. Restart playing songs from Automix queue without running Automix
The song will freeze very soon.
NB: Please play the songs entirely from beginning till the end.

Cheers
Alessandro

I forgot to mention that I’m using some Cue Points set through iTunes (Info → Options → Song Start). I’ve songs with starting point 1:03,6 for example…
I noticed that for some songs Djay Pro doesn’t read it, so it could be the real cause of the issue…but this is related to another bug I already mentioned. I mean the bug for which Djay Pro is not reading fine from iTunes Library. This cause ordered playlist to be not shown in the correct order, Songs starting points not read, and other few stuffs (a friend of mine said that he sees all songs with 5 stars classification)

where is the beta testing downloadable?

Thanks Adrian, I really hope it will work.
I will dj tomorrow night, and I will let you know afterward.

If it will not work, believe me, I will send my >100 Giga iTunes database to you in order to test with it

Thanks
Alessandro

@Adrian
Bad news. It happened again, even if I have to say only one time during the night and it was very light compared to the older ones. Meaning it just had some noise (like blur) for less than 2 secs.
The sequence is always the same as described above plus at the beginning of the night I have launched a BPM Analysis on the recent added songs.
What I noticed is that 4 songs before it happened I Autoplayed a song with a CUE (set as starting point different from 0 in iTunes that has not been read from Djay Pro), and then I stopped Autoplaying, but continued to use the Autoplay queue as placeholder for the songs I should use during the night.

Furthermore, this morning I tried to export the yesterday’s night playlist several times: first time it exported only 73 songs (as saind in another bug opened already), second time Djay Pro crashed (I sent the crash log file to you as axelgrillo@gmail.com). After restarting the application: first time again 73 songs, second time exported ok the whole playlist.

That’s all for now.

Hope this will help to find a solution to this very annoying issue.

Hi Mizell

are you playing songs with Cue points set from iTunes? I mean any “Starting Point” modified on your songs played during your performance?

Cheers
Alessandro

No Gerald this is not working for me at least. It happens even after 10 mins playing, but thanks for your suggestion
Btw, yesterday night I didn’t faced the issue at all, but I avoided all the actions I traced as dangerous for reproducing the issue.

@DJ MJIE
I use Dj Pro since his release date and I’m facing the issue too. I have already explained which was my experience and idea of the causes in another comment above. I’m tired to repeat it sorry.
The only way to reduce the number of freezes during the gig is to run pre-analysis to all the iTunes database before the gig itself (it’s a long job I usually run it in the afternoon). If theBPM songs are pre-calculated it seems to have less issue.

Hope this could help.

Alessandro

Guys

I’m sorry to notice you that the issue just came back. I faced it last weekend in 2 consecutive djsets.
The only change I had was the installation of the latest iTunes release from the apple store.
I think you should synch with their dev team in order to understand what is happening.

Hi Lukas,

thanks for your support.
I have just dropped an email to your support team.

Cheers
Alessandro

Lukas,

the issue it’s always the same, com’on…
The way to repro it is the following:

  • have a large iTunes DB (at least 100 Gb)
  • start playing by using the Automix queue without using the automix feature
  • whenever you want start automix and stop it after a couple of songs or more
  • continue to play the songs from the queue without automix feature
In a short while you will face the error.

Please fix the problem!!!

http://community.algoriddim.com/algor…

This is the same issue. Its being worked on guys chill out. Its an iOS issue not a Algoriddim issue. Kinda hard to fix your app if theres nothing wrong with it.

I experience this glitch, maddeningly, about every other gig and I’m using a MBP with 16 gigs of ram and a 1tb SSD.

This happens because you are using automix. Even the best automix transition sounds embarrassingly bad. How hard is it to find the “1”, set a cue point, then drop it on the “1” of the outgoing song???

I should have posted this somewhere else. I never use auto mix but my songs freeze up from time to time too.

That’s valid. I have had a few brief versions of this glitch happen to me during actual mixing (which brought me here in the first place) so there’s something def going on. But, I was at a spot a few weeks ago and there was a DJ performing contemporary hip hop and R&B for a relativly full dance floor and he was full on in automix mode. The first thing that caught my ear was a strangely timed spin back and once I started train spotting his situation it was undeniable. He mixed all night by just curating a playlist and letting the software mix. Every transition was basically wrong. Because of that experience, I’m salty.

This app is a rip off !! It freezes constantly ! I want my money back ! What were you people thinking ? This app is a joke .i have an iPad 3 with iOS 6.2 , the latest ! Fix your stinking app !
