Songs momentarily freeze

Just done 2 gigs with iPad3, iDJPro controller. Previously left running ALL DAY on autoplay in my studio to test. 100% faultless. Don’t think there’s anything wrong with this App but maybe some other App conflicts? Take other apps off and put into Airplane mode then try again. I wouldn’t be surprised if emails/texts arriving in the background caused a glitch.

Have also tested extensively on my iMac and simply cannot reproduce this problem. I’ve been using djay since the early days on a G4 laptop and not once have encountered any freezes or buffering apart from minor animation faltering - never audio.

I HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MY IPAD 3 OF 64 GB!

It may even be that the warnings messages are causing the conflict since freezing is random. But this proves that the application is not compatible with the operating system and even though I closed all applications the problem persists!! Have not tried putting in airplane mode, but if it works yet more proof that the application is ridiculous and I’ll have to use tracktor not present these problems!

NOTE: I USE THIS APP TO LIVE AND NOT IN AUTO, IF NOT I DO NOT EVEN BUY!

Has happened to me constantly, but I use the 64gb ipad 3!

The pictures stops turning for a short time after loading. Problem with several tasks at the same time? Is that related to the problem of interrupted play back?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Picture freezes shortly when playing starts.

Any word on if the new update fixed this problem? I’m not updating till I find out.

Just created a separate post as hadn’t spotted this one first. I have just bought a Numark iDJ Pro which is a great bit of kit but will be unusable for me as a DJ if this problem can’t be fixed. Looks like it has been around a long while so I’m thinking perhaps I need to return it and buy something else instead?

Surprised you can’t recreate the problem, it was evident immediately for me. All my tracks are 320k. Ipad is the original model and not jailbroken or modified in any way

It’s always when loading the next track that the one playing stutters. If there’s any solutions or workarounds please let me know before I send the IDJ Pro back!

"Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the input. Our developers might have found the cause. To make sure, we need test songs, so please send one or two test songs to support@algoriddim.com. Make sure to use “Songs momentarily freeze” as the email subject.

Thank you for your patience so far!!! "

A couple of months back you said you found the cause/bug now you say, you need to reproduce it in order to fix it???

got iPad 2, just bought the app and you canNOT mix with It because of loading new tracks issue . Such a shame for this price.

4 months you have this issue and no solution found.!!!

I’ve had a similar issue, and as with the original poster, it’s not an iOS issue, as we are on MacBooks, not iOS devices.

However, it’s not a very frequent occurrence, and certainly not enough for me to give up on DJay. It’s still far better than anything else I’ve tried

Even the latest update didn’t solve this issue. Now the song freezes less than before but still freeze. It’s really frustrating!!! I don’t use any external drive, all my music is in the iTunes Media folder.
Can you please specify when is planned to have a fix??

Found the reason why the song freeze. It seems that the application fails to correctly write the hash key in the djay Preset Library.plist file. Please look at the attached image: the highlighted song name is missing the hash key and this happen for any freezing song.
So, please, try to find a fix for this because it’s becoming really tedious.

Can we have a date in which this bug will be fixed?
To me sound ridiculous that you released a Pro version without fixing a blocking bug. I will never buy it

Yes, I also suspect it’s something related to non stardard character-set, but it’s only a guess.

Hi Warren,

I’ve upgraded to the Pro Version as well and I’m still facing the issue. After the latest patch (Dj Pro Version 1.0.1) I’m facing the issue much less than before but it is still there.
I’m facing it while playing with the AutoMix Queue open, I mean that I put the songs in the autoqueue but then I don’t run automix to play them. I just use that as placeholder.
If you want to recreate it in your lab, just PreCue as much songs (with strange chars like the spanish n) as you can

To answer your questions:

  1. I’m not using external hard drive
  2. I’m using the iMic audio device

Cheers
Alessandro

I was hoping with the yesterday’s latest fix to find this solved. Instead I faced the issue more than 10 times in a night, this is really frustrating guys…SOLVE THIS OR GIVE OUR MONEY BACK!!!

Hi Adrian

Yes, I’m using Djay Pro 1.1.1.
I think the way to reproduce it is by playing songs with spanish chars (á é í ó ú Á…ñ ń…etc) in the iTunes tags (Song Name, Album, Artist, Composer are the tags I use).

It usually doesn’t happen as soon as you play the song containing the spanish char, but after some while and using the autoplay queue as placeholder of the songs you will play. For example, I use it deeply with no auotplay, sometime I start autoplay and the song after stop it, deeply use of pre-cueing (I use the iMic).
It’s like something going wrong in the application cache…

In conclusion, you have a bit to play with it because I didn’t get yet the exact sequence to repro it, but if you read the other comments you will see that we are all djs using spanish songs. I’m afraid that is something related to it.

Hope this can help.

PS: last resort…I’ve added the spanish language to my Mac in order to see if anything will change. I’ll test it during the weekend

Just a good news update for all those are experiencing the same issue.

I opened a ticket also to Apple and a guy suggested me to scratch my iTunes Database and restart is. In his opinion, could be possible that the iTunes db was corrupted and something could go wrong in the 2 apps integration (iTunes/Djay Pro)

The procedure is quite easy:

  1. Switch off iTunes and Delete “iTunes Library.itl” file
  2. Copy iTunes Music Library.xml on your desktop
  3. Start iTunes and load your iTunes Music Library.xml previously saved (from menu File -> Library -> Import Playlist). This will create a new “iTunes Library.itl” file under your iTunes directory.

After a while all my playlists were created back again, even if with some small errors that I have manually corrected (especially for the songs bought from the iTunes Store in which I changed the year and genre tags)

In the end the result is that till now I haven’t faced again the song freeze in Djay Pro even playing songs with strange chars, but I have performed just one time.
I will play more during the weekend and let you know.

Hope this could help others to test themselves.

Cheers
Alessandro
