If this is true, then how come there’s no issue with using pulse locker off line with serato?
Well to the fact, one can already download songs in playlists in Spotify and play offline, so with that said, Spotify should create a premium tier so we can do this within djay.
wish for offline playback too! I get that spotify doesn’t allow the use of offline caching, but maybe Algoriddim can cut out a deal maybe even with another subscription, to get the offline caching allowed. Also Spotify must have an interest in staying relevant. More and more streaming services are partnering up with DJ software companys and algoriddim will loose its edge there.
Plus it would make so many DJs switch to Djay.
Other Djay software/Hardware companys are going the same route…
Just look at denon with their prime players, the integrate soundcloud, Tidal and the new Beatport streaming (even though the offline sets are priced bit ridiculously)
I think this is as legal as getting your music from pirate Bay etc. And for that matter I would suggest a look at deezloader (they have proper lossless)…
Please note that due to “sandboxing”, a security feature on iOS, apps have absolutely no access to each other’s workspace. This means that djay has no access to the songs you download in the Spotify app. These songs are only available for the Spotify app itself. djay currently has no way to support offline playlists but we are aware of this request and we’ll be sure to keep an eye out.

Is there really anything more you need to know?
In the future perhaps a little preparation would be i order to avoid issues like this. Spotify is not even cleared for commercial or public use let alone offline support thus I am not sure how keen Spotify would be to facilitate this function that directly breaks the end user agreement you agreed to the day you signed up with Spotify…
Short of pointing out the obvious one can safely assume this is due to the fact Pulselocker is not spotify thus has different licenses and policies one main one being offline caching and the other being the allowance of public play (commercial use) as long as you have premium ($20/mo.) tier.
They should indeed but they have not. They have something similar which allows commercial use BUT this still does not license for DJ use etc. https://www.soundtrackyourbrand.com/s…
While there COULD be a disclaimer one should also note that it may be implied due to the fact Spotify forbids it and it is mentioned in their end user agreement everyone sings upon using their service. While a partner to some degree Algoriddim is just as bound by this agreement as we all are. Commercial use of the service is forbidden and this would directly facilitate public play. Hate to be “that guy” but let’s keep things realistic here.
Which other DJ apps have offline support of their streaming partner’s library?
Hi Erik,
Please note that due to “sandboxing”, a security feature, apps have absolutely no access to each other’s workspace. This means that djay has no access to the songs you download in the Spotify app. These songs are only available for the Spotify app itself. djay currently has no way to support offline playlists but we are aware of this request and we’ll be sure to keep an eye out.
They can’t fix that because it’s not a bug! It’s a limitation of iOS. Is it so hard to understand ?
I bought the DJAY2 and DJAY PRO app for both iPhone, iPad and Mac the other day and I really like the layout. Today only minutes before the show I got aware of that my downloaded Spotify playlist didn’t work on my iPad PRO and there was no internet connection at the place! After a while I got a really slow 3G connection working shared from my iPhone witch made it possible to at least struggle through the setup.
The Spotify integration is really really nice but it is almost useless without offline-support. You never now where there is or isn’t a internet connection at the place you arrive to…
When do you have a fix for this???
Regards Fredrick
Well then I know that you do not wish the offline functionality, thanks for pointing that out. Let me say it like this.
If you encounter a problem it attempts to solve it. If it’s not possible to solve it yourself, you go to the next instance. I understand that it is a problem that is not easy to solve, but want to ensure that work is in progress. Whether it is Apple or someone else who is obstacle here I hope that on behalf of their customers Algoriddim asked the question there.
I really love the app and want to use it to the fullest. Therefore I put my oppinion here.
Regards Fredrick
Spotify never have and never will allow dj apps other any kind to play their contents for commercial use saying that spotify and Itunes for that matter need to wake up to the fact that dj’s are the “salepeople” for the contents as the public here what is being played then seeks it out for themselves. If they even allow a premium plus service for dj’s their revenue would increase 2 fold overnight but they will not do this purely for contractual purposes only by the various publishing and music houses…
I hear there is hope on the horizon at long last as other DJ apps are now building offline capabilities into their software but yhis will not be rolled out until later this year or next at that point algoriddim will have no choice but to talk to Spotify to make djay more competitive
I’m afraid for the foreseeable future live streaming is the thing other software DJ apps will allow a cache of certain amount but as a whole u have to be on line to use. I love djay pro and Spotify access is very good but also unreliable for gigging
I am very unhappy with my purchase today after finding out that all of my downloaded Spotify premium music is not accessible to Djay Pro 2 when offline. THIS SHOULD BE IN BOLD UNDER THE APPS DESCRIPTION! This app is useless to me now because I don’t always know if a venue has WIFI or if my hotspot will even work at some locations. Why bother preparing your tracks for this app if its a gamble that its going to work? Basically this is a toy and shouldn’t have Pro in the name at all. I wish I could get a refund!
