STAR rating and Date Added sorting to IOS pls

Mate, they have a list of wants, requests, demands, additions. They will organise them in an order of what they see fit, and also have their own roadmap of things they want to develop for the app.

That’s all you need to know, and it’s all you will ever know as these companies NEVER publicly divulge what they are working on, they never have and never will, no matter how much you make a scene about it or beg them to.

My advice, save yourself from wasting your time and stop trying to push for something that nobody is going to give to you.

One day, you might be able to alter star rating on an iOS device from a 3rd party app, but that day isnt today so if you’re that desperate for it, do it elsewhere then load the files in, there are plenty of tools and software to facilitate that.

I’m not asking to “alter” star ratings on iOS. I simply want them to be VISIBLE in the Library columns, so I can sort by star rating. Sheesh… You’d think I’m asking for something difficult. Maybe you misunderstood or didn’t read what I was posting?

Mate… This exists in the Mac/PC version already.

And what it comes down to is whether Djay can compete with other DJ software - getting users like me to switch. Parity from Mac/PC and iOS is a huge selling factor for Djay - and a reason I’m interested in making the switch away from Traktor.

But, if users have to do without basic browser columns we rely upon, like star ratings, our motivation to switch to Djay will be affected. Mine sure is! Why switch to Djay if I’m going to be tied to the laptop?!

@Slak_Jaw You’re the main mod right now, right? Can you chime in on whether asking just for star ratings to be a visible column on iOS (not editable) is too much to ask?

I’ve been a member of dj software forums for nearly 20yrs, im telling you now that NOBODY is going to divulge feature roadmaps to you on the public forum, not a mod, not devs, not the CEO, nobody.

Beta testers don’t even know what is on the roadmap outside of what they are testing on the next release, and even then they are under NDA so cannot discuss it publicly.

Why are you not taking this advice on board from people who know what they are talking about?

You’re telling me to shut up… note taken.

Not at all, im just telling you that you’re not going to get that kind of info on this (or any other) forum… so don’t waste your time with it.

The info will have been passed on and it’ll be considered as a possible addition, but we will never know when.

Mate… at this point it’s not about “getting info”… it’s about you telling me that it’s pointless to ask for this feature to be implemented. Sure, it would be nice to know from an official source if this feature is dead forever… but at this point you and Daniel are just arguing that it’s pointless to even ask that the feature be added. And your’e not even reading what I’m asking for… just to SEE star ratings as a column. Seriously?

My advice, save yourself from wasting your time and stop trying to push for something that nobody is going to give to you

It’s great that you’ve been in these forums for so many years. It’s wild to think that Djay is over 20 years old at this point. I bought it early on, but couldn’t use it regularly for gigs… landing on Traktor for the past 15 or so years. But at this point it looks promising - if some of the basic stuff I rely upon is there.

Honestly… star ratings is just one small but glaring omission from the feature-set. Still, it looks like metadata refreshing is still an issue.

If people don’t point out these omissions and issues, how is Djay going to convert users?

Nobody is saying that at all, people are just telling you that it’s been raised as a request and it’ll be passed on for consideration.

Okay, my mistake… I interpreted what you two were saying to mean I was wasting my time asking for this feature and to just live with it.

No definitely not wasting your time asking for things, they encourage that. Just wasting your time on the other part asking for updates on the feature being forthcoming, as it’s not something that happens.

Totally understandable. I only asked Slak Jaw because I interpreted what you and Daniel were saying as telling me to just live with it as is.

I did see that Slak Jaw said they would pass the idea on… though, I hear that all the time from tech companies and it usually means nothing. So, the squeaky wheel I be.

I guess the best way to look at it is look at how many feature requests there are (hundreds, if not thousands) ranging from seemingly obvious to ultra niche. So somewhere they have to form that into a priority list and work out what is the best thing to work on first.

This will be the reason they don’t comment on individual requests, as it would just snowball into thousands of questions about other requests.

What you also have to remember, this might be the most important thing to you personally, but something else might be the most important to someone else…. Who and what takes priority? Everyone wants a piece of the pie but there’s only so much pie to pass around.

Can you use your computer to add the star ratings to another column that’s visible on iOS And sort it that way? Or color code your tracks respective to their star ratings as a work around?

Are you using djay’s “My Collection” within the app or are you DJing straight from iTunes?

This has already been shared with the devs and they do review and consider all user suggestions carefully. Votes and user demand are certainly part of the decision making process. However, some things may seem easy to implement on the service, but can be difficult or impossible to implement on certain OS’s. I cannot speak to the difficulty, feasibility or any timelines for this request.

If you read the suggestions thread…@slack_jaw consistently acknowledges requests, passes them to the dev team and encourages people to vote for suggestions as they see fit. But he’s never given anyone any promises or timeframes for request implementation.

you’re being very pushy for something that just has not historically happened on this forum. I’m pretty sure they aren’t going to change their protocol anytime soon

just put your suggestion in like the rest of us, and encourage ppl to vote and be patient broski. I looked into Djay pro back in 2024, but they were missing a bunch of features that were important to me. I waited over a year, came back and they had implemented several of those features.

They only have a team of 30 people dealing with hundreds of controllers/devices, probably hundreds of thousands of users worldwide and thousands of bugs to troubleshoot and fix along with features to implement. They dont have the resources like Apple or Google.

I’ve put in a couple suggestions that I miss from switching from Serato. All I can do is wait. And if it’s that pressing…nobody is stopping me from switching back to Serato until my requests are implemented.

Best of luck to you.

I completely get this and had the same mindset until I worked for a tech company and actually saw the R&D happening in real time.

This is normal in the tech world, that’s why you’re seeing the same results in different venues.

Software engineering/UI Design is a whole different beast when it comes to user suggestions/feedback.

100% on the money here :+1:t3:

I’ve largely stuck to Serato as the native 3 deck view they offer is ultra important to me, my workflow and how I want the UI to work.

I still use Djay and will continue to pay for it, but I accept it’s not providing the important things for me and I’m not expecting them to add it anytime soon.

If my library relied on a certain functionality and it wasn’t present, I’d 100% not be using it:
