Sync libraries over wifi between devices

Brand new Djay Pro user here, and really excited about this change in my life

**
Been a DJ for 36 years (last 15 only wedding DJ), changed from scratch live to Traktor almost 20 years ago, and have been with Traktor until now.**

**
One of the most important aspects for me is library management and a fast workflow.
Up to now, IĀ“ve used Lexicon to create a new crate or crates for each of my weddings, as well as fixing tags, writing comments, etc. Then I sync to Traktor on my Mac Studio at home, check beatgrids, create cues, etc. Then I sync the folder I have the ā€œnew songsā€, and the Trakor ā€œcollection fileā€ (that has all the beatgrids, cues, playlists, etc) by wifi using Freefilesync to my other 2 macbooks, this way my libraries got synced.**

**
Is it possible to do it the same way on Djay Pro? Or is there an easier or better way?
I would also like to sync some of the crates to my ipads, but not all the music, only selected crates. Is this possible?**

**
I would prefer not to use any cloud based sync apps, as I don“t want to keep them synced all the time, but only when I want (when I get back from a wedding, or once I“ve finished preparing 3 or 4 weddings). I already had an issue when I deleted by mistake part of my music collection and I forgot that my cloud app would delete it from all my computers.**

**
I“ve seen about One Library, but I would prefer not to use USB sticks to move the files around. Not sure if it can be done over wifi though.

I also just ordered a white FLX10, an Inpulse 500, and found an old Reloop Mixtour that I had never used, so also looking forward to playing with new devices, after so many years only with my S4mk3.

TIA!**

The same process works with djay Pro.

  • sync Lexicon with djay Pro
  • copy the djay Pro folder → /Music/djay or file → djay Media Library to the other device.

Yes. OneLibrary USBs will sync only the crates/playlists you have chosen. Please note: on iOS, USB sync is one-way, but on a Macbook, USB sync works in both directions.

OneLibrary playlists can be transferred over WIFI using virtual USBs (see post below). Please note, the method only works with Macs. You still need a hardware USB stick for your iPad.

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

Sorry I haven“t got back to you yet, but I haven“t gotten around to trying it yet.
Been working on other things and getting my playlists sorted before I start with this.
I“ll get back as soon as I“m on it
Thanks!!!

No problem. Sounds good @OAlgo

Sorry for the delay, guys!
The copying of the library file to the next device seems to work great, many thanks for that!!

Another couple of questions:
Is there a way to change the location of this file?
Can individual crates/playlists be exported in an m3u file? I used to do this in traktor to export to apple music, to only have my most important playlists on my ipads.
Is there a better way to only sync some playlists to my ipads?

Thanks!

No problem @OAlgo. You cannot change the location of the djayMediaLibrary. You can use OneLibrary for individual folders or playlists.
