I think the behaviour of djay with syncing tracks is missing something obvious, its master / slave behaviour isn’t intuitive.
Once the crossfader has moved primarily away from the previous track into the current one, the current track should automatically become the ‘master’. Too often, I’ve got my crossfader most of the way into the new track, then the old track with a dynamic bpm and a big bpm change grabs the new track and wildly shifts its bpm, because djay still considers it the master.
this is not in line with how you would intuitively expect it to behave. I’m sure many open format / wedding etc dj’s have experienced a similar problem with this!
Thanks for the feedback @jpb83. Please review our updated help Center article regarding sync and let me know if this helps clarify how sync works with djay.
Please also capture and share a short screen recording of the unexpected sync behaviour you’re describing.
thanks for sending, but there’s nothing here that I’m not familiar with. I know how djay behaves regarding sync, i just don’t think it’s ideal. At a minimum, an indicator for which deck is currently the master and a midi-mappable shortcut to force master status would be great, but I also think it would make sense for master status to switch once the crossfader is obviously on the side of the new track. i guess the best workaround here is to quickly cut 100% to the new track then bring the crossfader back, but I don’t think you should have to do that.
You’re welcome @jpb83. Thanks for the additional input. I’ll share this with our dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please vote so we can gauge demand for these suggestions.
