I’m having a deeply frustrating time trying to record a mix with a heavy use of sync.
If I press play on my non-playing deck, for which the crossfader is fully closed, there’s a 50% chance the playing track will stutter, pop, etc.
If I have two tracks playing in sync, then increase the speed of the master sync track above 0% via the pitch fader, there is again a 50% chance of hearing what sounds like artifacts.
When I’m messing around on the non-playing deck (again crossfader closed), such as pressing and holding hot cues, this can also seem to affect the playing track.
I don’t know exactly what is going on, like if it’s just the result of the tracks getting abruptly synced together, performance issues (my guess, especially because I know key lock is problematic), or something to do with the moving platters. In any case, I can’t get through recording a 30 minute mix without it being ruined by at least one or two instances of this.
I will try to get some more concrete examples, but honestly I’m just hoping that other users have also experienced this and can chime in.
Hi @Fangio, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. This sounds very unusual To help explain what’s going on can you please try to capture a short video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? Thanks!
Alright, here we go… Please listen with good headphones.
Loops 1-2: Turning key lock on/off
Key Lock ON
3-4: Holding and releasing cue-point on non-active deck
5-6: Two tracks synced, changing and then resetting pitch fader
Key Lock OFF
7-8: Two tracks synced, changing and resetting pitch fader
9-10: Holding and releasing cue-point on non-active deck
Observation: horrible pops with key lock engaged, no issues at all with it disengaged.
I am slightly impressed, but mostly disappointed, to see that I seem to be correct about the key lock once again. I am shocked that more users haven’t chimed in about the key lock over the last half a year that I’ve been bringing it up. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but for me, it severely impacts many parts of this application.
