Windows 11 25H2: MIDI Connectivity Issues (FLX4 & SC LIVE 4)

Hi,

I updated my system to Windows 11 version 25H2 last week, and since then, I have been experiencing major issues with my DJ controllers.

  1. DDJ-FLX4: Yesterday, I tried using it at a gig, but it wasn’t recognized as a MIDI controller at all.

  2. SC LIVE 4: When testing at home, the device is recognized as an Audio Interface and MIDI device in the system, but it does not respond to any physical movements or button presses.

I have already tried connecting the device directly to my PC’s USB port (bypassing the USB hub), but the result is the same.

I’ve heard that Windows 11 25H2 has known issues with MIDI device recognition and driver compatibility. Is there a known fix or a specific setting I should change to resolve this? I am quite stuck and would appreciate your help.

Best regards,

I have been conducting tests with several units, including the SC LIVE 4, MIXON 4, BUDDY, and MIXultra

I am experiencing a critical issue where the hardware is not recognized as a MIDI device once the USB cable is unplugged and reinserted. This means that during a DJ changeover, simply plugging in the USB cable does not allow the software to recognize the controller.

Currently, the only way to ensure the device functions normally is to perform a full PC restart while the USB cable is already connected. The system only works as expected if it is rebooted with the connection established.

Please investigate whether this is a driver-level conflict or a firmware compatibility issue. I look forward to your response regarding a potential fix.

As a precaution, I provided a separate power supply to the DDJ-FLX4. I expected the hardware to be recognized by simply restarting the djay app, but unfortunately, that did not work. I regret not following the basic troubleshooting step of “connecting everything first and then restarting the PC,” which seems to be the only way to ensure it functions.

As you updated your Windows, most probably you need to uinstall the “old” FLX4 from devices.

Control Panel → Device Manager.

It’s somewhere there

Then shutdown computer, connect your flx4, restart.

Then the windows should recognize new device and install correct drivers.

Hi @megamema, I guess you didn’t see the post I shared yesterday.

If you don’t want to revert to 24H2, here’s a potential workaround for Pioneer gear shared by another user:

  • If you first open Rekordbox, the controller is detected normally there.
  • After closing Rekordbox and reopening djay Pro, the FLX4 is then detected correctly.

In my case, removing KB5078127 and KB5074109 resolved the issue.

As a temporary solution.

Hello everyone, here’s another potential workaround:

Restarting the MIDI service:

Exit the application, plug in the device, and restart the MIDI service as described below:

  1. Close all MIDI apps
  2. Open Windows Terminal as an Administrator (“run as administrator”)
  3. Type* net stop midisrv
  4. After that completes, type* net start midisrv
  5. Start up the app you want to use with MIDI
