ATTENTION all Windows 11 25H2 users

Hello everyone,

  • There have been several reports online of MIDI and ASIO Driver related issues directly linked to the recent Windows 11 25H2 update.
  • These are not isolated to djay.
  • Our engineering team is investigating this further as well.
  • In the meantime, if you have not already updated to this version, you may want to consider holding off for now.
  • If you have updated, you may want to consider rolling back to 24H2 - especially if you are experiencing any MIDI or ASIO Driver issues.
  • If you are unsure how to do this, please refer to Windows Online Support or contact their official support team for detailed instructions.

Below are links to the issues that have been reported in this Community. If you come across other unexpected behavior related to 25H2, please detail it here. I hope that helps. Thanks!

Hello everyone, we recommend affected users to uninstall all of these Windows Updates:

  • KB5074105
  • KB5077181
  • KB5077241

Your can find these in Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Update.

There’s a full description here on the VirtualDJ page: VirtualDJ - VDJPedia - Win11-KB5074105

I just discovered that the problem I’m having on my Windows 11 ARM 25H2 system isn’t a MIDI issue.

I think the problem is with Djay PRO version 5.6.2 on Windows 11 ARM, because I don’t have this problem on Windows 11 64-bit. I remember everything working fine in version 5.6.1.
I even tried version 24H2, and the problem persists. I’ll upload a video of the error.

I also discovered a way to do a clean install of Windows 11 25H2 and prevent all updates from being installed automatically.

I’ll leave the link to the YouTube video that explains how to do it. It also explains how to optimize Windows 11 and gives the option to only update security updates, preventing updates that cause problems. All of this is achieved with the tool by ChrisTitus.

On my Mini PC with Windows 11 x64, when I updated to update KB5077241, it developed the same error that I get on Windows 11 ARM, and when I removed the update, the problem was fixed.

I kept testing, and it’s not a Djay PRO problem.
It’s a problem with the Microsoft Windows update.
But in my case, that update gives me the same problem with the Pioneer DDJ-REV7 described in the video, both on Windows 11 24H2 and Windows 11 25H2, in both the ARM and x64 versions.

Hello everyone, here’s another potential workaround:

Restarting the MIDI service:

Exit the application, plug in the device, and restart the MIDI service as described below:

  1. Close all MIDI apps
  2. Open Windows Terminal as an Administrator (“run as administrator”)
  3. Type* net stop midisrv
  4. After that completes, type* net start midisrv
  5. Start up the app you want to use with MIDI

I already tried that alternative, and it doesn’t work for me.
On my system with Windows 11 25H2, a Ryzen 7 7000 series processor, and my Pioneer REV7 controller, the only thing that works is uninstalling update KB5077241.

Hello everyone, we received more information from Microsoft:
Some drivers from InMusic brands (RANE, Numark, etc.) can crash with the new MIDI stack. The recommendation is to uninstall these drivers, as Windows should now be able to support them natively. I hope that helps.

YOUR QUESTION:

  1. Hey ya’ll. Just got the DDJ-FLX2 from Amazon. It was working fine til recently. Before when I hooked it up to my laptop with the Djay Pro app running, it controlled the mixes and effects. Now, its like it isnt even picking up signal from my laptop. It just works as an audio jack for my speakers. Any clue to what I’m doing wrong?
