AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 Official Support

A new player in town: AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 - at first glance it makes a good impression, especially when it comes to a controller that is as close as possible to the club setup without costing a four-figure sum. I assume that Algoriddim has planned support from Djay Pro

Having just watched Mojaxx review this, and his complaint that the drum loop “grooves” don’t stay in time unless the beat grid is perfect, of course this would not be an issue with djay Pro, because of the Fluid Beatgrid system - so that whole Groove Circuit area would work well.

^ link in case anyone curious

Also yes pleassseee get support for this…it’s this or the mixon 8 pro

Looks great but let down by the metering in my opinion.

Only 5 bars on each channel, and no meter on the master at all? No thanks.

Oh and I just realised it doesn’t say Pioneer anywhere. At all.

This definitely is geared towards DJ’s like me who want to do live remixes! I dig it and am intrigued. Plus it’s less than 1K. I might jump to this before I jump over to the FLX-10 but not sure. Gonna wait and see the reviews in time, but yea please Algo Team, let’s map this sucker and make it compatible on Day 1 @Slak_Jaw Thanks!!

The thing to consider before spending any money is that it’s just a controller. That “groove circuit” section is just a bunch of MIDI controls. It’s the software that does the work - and most DJ software can do that kind of thing already.

I’ve done things myself in djay Pro by syncing the drum loops to an old track, the advantage being that we have Fluid Beatgrids to keep everything nicely in sync.

That’s true, but Groove Circuit is not the only aspect of the device, even if that is prominently emphasized. For me, that wouldn’t be the decisive argument for buying it, but rather the fact that you essentially get an up-to-date club setup at a reasonably acceptable price.
Overall, it seems to me to be a good package, but not perfect either. Unfortunately, the “cheap” Pioneer/AlphaTheta devices never come with colored performance pads, although this would significantly enhance the devices. Personally, I would also be happy to see an edition in white
I’ll keep an eye on this controller, but won’t make a decision until it can also be used with Djay Pro. And since the controller is class compliant, that should only be a matter of time.

You beat me to this!
I wanted my topic to read: COUNT-DOWN: 2MONTHS TO GET ALGORIDIM SUPPORT FOR DDJ-GRV6!

2-months deadline!, can we vote already?

Well said. Can we make “day 1” be 2 months only?

Except it’s not a “club setup”. It’s just been made to look more like one, by (e.g.) putting a row of buttons at the back of the jog wheel rather than using the more convenient pads at the front, to try and appeal to Pioneer obsessives who dream of being James Hype.

Even though that appears to have been their evil plan, the “it looks like a toy” comments are still coming thick and fast.

Of course, this is yet another class of device, but the design comes very close. And it’s more than enough to prepare for the gig - not just for beginners.
Comments about “toys” don’t trigger me, I’ve been at it for a few days, and expensive tools alone don’t make a craftsman. In the end, it’s the result that counts, and if you manage to rock the party with a toy, you’ve done everything right

I don’t buy this whole “prepare for the gig” concept that the equipment you use at home has to emulate what’s in the club, or DJs won’t know what do (blah blah).

Like I said, I think that’s the way they’re trying to market it, so they sell more stuff - it’s not really necessary.

I was a beginner once too, but I never had the same (or even similar) stuff at home. It wasn’t an issue.

I agree with you, but I also know that it looks different in many people’s minds. But at some point, everyone figures it out …

Resembling Club standard gear goes out the window if you intend on using it with Algoriddim Dj pro,
Club standard gear has no where the sophistication of Dj Pro

May sound like a silly question, but I’m honestly curious @Chris_R : Why WHITE?

I gotta hunch that there’s more to it than “I like white”, is there?
And I admit, right now, all that is on my mind is: Whoa, mine would be so gray after a few days… :see_no_evil::wink:

Oh my… last year they almost got me when they dropped the DDJ-FLX6-GT - hm, will I really have to retire my trusty NI S5…? Truth be told, I still like that old brick a lot (even has XLR, but the new GRV has balanced 6.3mm outs PLUS a second stereo master-out… swell!

THIS.

You know, I only started with that whole DJ-thing appr. 2 yrs ago… BUT: I’ve been playing guitar in bands for almost 20 years now (eeek! OMFG, gettin’ old…). One thing I learned: your comment is 100% spot on. Respect!:+1:t4::blush:

Just seen the new XDJ-AZ which has the hot cue pads at the front.

No consistency from AT on this!

I actually prefer a white version of such appliances. I think it’s far too rare. It looks classier to me and I also like to do things differently to others.
