AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 Official Support

I will give the GRV6 props, it’s a very good looking controller!

My beef with “Club Standard”, it really means the Pioneer layout - and I really dislike Pioneer’s single channel for all FX. I’ve never found it to be performance friendly, the workflow creates a lot of extra busy work for very little gain. I feel like I always have to double-check settings to be sure it’s a. targeting the correct deck b. using the correct FX c. actually ON or OFFe. Ugh. It should not be that complicated. It’s just one extra thing to juggle when you’re constantly mixing between decks.

I prefer FX controls to be neatly separated for each Deck. Either as a separate section near the jog wheels OR I’d love to see FX controls for each Deck lined up right next the EQ/Filter buttons.

Yeah, I do think I understand: Once, in a club saw a controller like mine (Native S5 ← no jogwheels - eek! Still love it for being… different ;o), with the unit being clad in FlipFlop blue / white-ish… almost “glow-in-the-dark”-like… classy indeed.
Thanks mate, for letting me know.
Cheers!:v:

Looks good. But very big. I never use platters. So skip the platters and we have the perfect midiplayer.

I recently acquired this device and have been mapping with Djay.

I have two questions.

  1. Will Algoriddim be releasing mapping and support for the AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6?
  2. in mapping, I do not know how to assign the BEAT FX jog and how to assign the level indicator. Can you please tell me how to do this?

I assume that GRV6 will also be officially supported in the future, but only Algoriddim itself will be able to tell you if and when this will happen.

Hi @EichiEmu, please use search before creating new topics. I’ve merged yours with this existing one. This hardware is not yet supported, but you can vote to have this supported at the top left of this page. Thanks!

I saw the topic here in a search, but I didn’t think it was a thread for support because of all the remarks about the release and how good or bad the product is.
First of all, sorry for the hassle. And I’d really like an answer from an expert on the second question. I have no official mapping data, so I have to do it myself, but this is my first time mapping and I don’t know how to do it.

Hi @EichiEmu, I don’t have access to this specific hardware so I can’t offer much help with your Beat FX jog question. Also, MIDI mapping the LED VU meters is currently not supported in our MIDI Learn tool.

For more info on MIDI Mapping in djay, please refer to the linked articles below:

It would be fantastic to have official support for the GRV6. This controller offers two different setups (one for Serato and another for Rekordbox). If DJAY Pro could map both setups, it would greatly impress Serato and Rekordbox users, as they wouldn’t have to choose between the two; they’d have access to both functionalities. This capability would undoubtedly attract a lot of attention to DJAY Pro.

Just recently purchased the DDJ-GRV6, love it so far but it tends to freeze while rekordbox is still playing. It seems as if the unit disconnects from rekordbox and nome of the buttoms respond on the GRV6. I have to unplug it to get it function again. I kind of noticed it to happen a couple of times when i was sracthing. Anyone have any answers.

This is not the Rekordbox forum.

Hi, any updates on official support for the GRV6? I was really hoping the recent 12/4/2024 update would include at least some basic compatibility, but it seems like only the Pioneer DJ DDJ-XP2, Denon Prime GO+, Numark Mixstream Pro GO, and Mixstream Pro+ were added.

I upgraded to the GRV6 over a month ago after my gear was stolen, assuming support would be available by the end of the year. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. Djay Pro AI has been my program of choice, but without a supported controller, I’ve been unable to use it at all.

At this point, I’m not even asking for full groove circuit functionality—just basic 4-deck control so I can get back to using Djay. Please consider prioritizing this, as it’s impacting those of us who rely on your software.

Hi @DJ_NARKOTX, thanks for continuing to push support for this hardware. We don’t have any updates to share at this time, but I will post here when I have news to share. Thanks!

Have you considered mapping it yourself? It’s really not that difficult.

I had to manually map my Pioneer DDJ-RZ when I first started using Djay Pro.

…or perhaps another user here can share something?

I wonder if it is recognised by Djay Pro when it is plugged in?
I agree, self mapping is easy enough and also better in my opinion because you can customise it to your exact liking.

If any of you create a mapping of the GRV6, please share it. I will try to make one and share it as well.

I’ve been mapping for a while, and I think I have most of the basics covered. Now, I wonder how to map a “groove circuit.” It’s impossible to emulate the drum channels of Rekordbox, but is it possible to assign separate stem effects (like Serato do)? This is my first time mapping with djay Pro, and I have a lot of doubts about many of the functions available. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to emulate groove circuit FX for selected stems.

Hi @Santi_Gil, for the Drum Swap buttons on the GRV6, I would probably map these to the Kicks/Drums (Track 1: Trigger Sample 1) of the Looper. Then Duplicate the mapping (by sliding left on the command you just mapped) and mapping the same button to Neural Mix Mute (3ch: Drums). This will basically swap the existing track drums for drums from the Looper.

Here’s a short video of how this could function: GRV6-Drum Swap.mov - Google Drive

@Santi_Gil for the Drum Release FX paddle you could map this to the Instant FX Pad 1 and 2 and change the Instant FX Pad assignments to one of the Drum Echo Out options.
