Djay 6.0 dream features?

Wow. I never knew about this and I’ve had a Mixtour pro for a few months now. Thanks!

Do no other Djay controllers have this option? I assume this is an XML firmware combo though, as there isn’t an option in the midi mapping for it.

Some other Reloop controllers have this functionality as well. I don’t recall which ones though. The mapping is programmed under the hood for specific hardware and is not available in the MIDI Learn tool. This functionality has been intentionally limited because the engineering team identified some edge cases with certain devices.

Could you imagine if Engine Dj came out with a IOS version. I think 6.0 should be geared towards that possible competition :thought_balloon:

.

What makes you think they are going to do that?

I can’t see that happening at all. It looks to me that Engine DJ is definitely placing itself in the standalone area but with System One showing how that it can then be a centre piece of a DJ platform, but accomodate other DJs that will want to make use of their software of choice.

I personally think that coming from a music producer World, now back into the DJ World. People are looking at this hybrid approach as the way forward and if Engine DJ and the System One principle is expanded into the Numark and Denon DJ devices. They will be uniquely placed to a big part of the DJ Market and dare I say push the confusing Pioneer / Alpha Theta branding out of some big time DJ booths. This is of course all just my opinion, and anyone can feel free to disagree with me.

You’ve never used Engine DJ, have you?

It’s quite well-made considering the small screen, but it’s much more convenient to use Djay with an iPad mini placed on top of the screen.

Yes, I read on another forum post that the Buddy has this funcionality, but the Mixon 8 doesn’t. I thought that was an interesting choice and I am personally surprised that the flagship controller from Reloop is missing that functionality. To at least have the option to make sure of the screen switching feature would be dope.

No, never ever used it at all, ever in the world.

However, I have no idea what your reply has to do with what I said?

Hopefully you are correct here. Would be great to see this flexibility come to all Engine DJ hardware.

Just thinking how well it’s laid out on a small touch screen . The drop box and music management makes it ideal for tablets. They all ready perfecting adding outside sources to connect and control the embedded software.. they have everything in place. I would try especially since I’m a Rane one mk2 owner. DJAY dev teams seems to do bare minimum on controller mappings.. so that’s why I say 6.0 should at least compete with that threat…

I would say they need to make a computer performance software first, which there is absolutely zero indication they will (at least from what I have seen).

I have a feature request on their forum that’s probably 3yrs old for a tablet companion app to Engine OS, last time I looked it had a huge 4 votes, compared 400 on their most popular request. If they’re using that to gauge interest, it seems pretty uninteresting.

Or to put simply, I don’t think Algoriddim have anything to worry about when it comes to InMusic being direct competition in that respect. @BillPayer hits the nail on the head above I would say.

Agreed. It seems logical that a Windows and/or macOS version would come before an iOS version.

If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on Virtual DJ making an iOS version before Engine DJ.

Guess that makes sense since djay started with desktop version first then an app. Or was it the other way around? Anyway just hope djay 6.0 gets better in music management options. Drop box . Real meta data tagging and reading.

I’m pretty sure djay was first released on macOS around 2006/2007. Then it came to iOS around 2010/2011.

A notable improvement in midi mapping, a more intuitive MIDI mapping and with better tools to configure our controls.

Having a djay studio where we can prepare our DJ sets with greater freedom, create our mashups and be able to export them to production software such as ableton would be the best.
