Algoriddim, it’s time to seriously step up the Android version of djay.
Djay has become one of the most impressive DJ platforms on iOS, macOS, and Windows, with powerful features, excellent hardware integration, stems, streaming, and a polished workflow. But when it comes to Android, there is still a huge gap, and that gap is becoming harder to justify.
Android users should not feel like they are being left out.
There are billions of Android devices worldwide, including increasingly powerful flagship phones and tablets that are more than capable of running demanding DJ software. Android hardware has evolved enormously, yet Djay has not kept pace with it.
Android hardware is no longer the excuse
Modern Android phones and tablets have powerful CPUs and GPUs, fast storage, high-refresh-rate displays, excellent audio capabilities, and more than enough performance to handle sophisticated DJ software.
If there are genuine technical limitations caused by Android itself, explain them to the community. But if the issue is development priorities, then we need to know whether Android is actually part of Algoriddim’s long-term strategy.
Because right now, Android users are being left behind while Djay continues to evolve on other platforms.
Please give Android the attention it deserves and bring it up to the same level as the rest of the djay ecosystem.
Many people don’t want to hear it, but we’ve all known it for many years: Anyone who takes this topic even halfway seriously - and pursues it even halfway seriously - doesn’t rely on Android.
Hi @hardbea7, thanks for taking the time to share this feedback!
Our dev team is committed to achieving feature parity for djay across all platforms, and we understand there is strong demand for this among our Android users. The wide range of Android devices and OS versions does make development more complex than on other platforms, but your feedback helps us prioritize where to focus.
To help us pass along the most useful details, could you let us know which specific features you feel are missing from djay on Android? For example, are there particular features from iOS, macOS, or Windows that you rely on most, or that would make the biggest difference in your workflow? It would also help to know which Android device(s) you’re using.
In the meantime, there is an existing suggestion topic with a similar request that you’re welcome to upvote:
Thanks again, and I’ll make sure this gets shared with the dev team for consideration.
android is for lack of better words. LINUX coded to shit just to be bad enough to use as a consumer product they want locked down, for any other usage.
LINUX support. like its the bare bones of all things we think of as windows and ios. where to these os operate? on linux operated systems, servers, appliances u name it.. only in the narrow slither of end user products we find windows and apple. for the common man.. the ones who cant think as bright as those linux masters.
and frankly their money sucking scheme would be kind of over if not controlling the perception of what you need to operate a pc.
ask Linus if you dont believe me.
i am 100% genuinely interested in an honest answer, some day.
not a reply with some character assassination of me for posing questions. as an answer.
im was going full linux, but djay pro stops me on the laptop. for now. but ill get on it with some agents as soon all is setup on pc, and maybe we can find a way to bridge with linux and be like. floor is lava, and we are safe up here. [i know i post a lot when i post. but im so bad at login in to all the places one probably do in one day without thinking.im always playing catch up to posts ]
move to post linux? on some place where looser linux wannabes hang out? :D[jokes jokes jokes]
Hi @AndyBoPandy, thanks for sharing. There are currently no announced plans for a Linux version of djay, and I’m not able to speak to future roadmap decisions. What I can tell you is that Linux support is something users have been requesting for a while, and the dev team does pay attention to how much demand there is for it.
Having said that this discussion is probably better had in the existing Linux topic and I see that you have already commented there:
That’s very big gap, you guys at least support most popular gears, like:
DDJ-FLX 10
DDJ-REV5
DDJ-REV7
Denon DJ PRIME GO
Inpulse 500
Inpulse T7
Rane One MK2
RANE PERFORMER
Reloop Mixon 8 Pro
Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX
Numark NS4FX
Xone 24C
DJM S7,S9,S11
and more…
I use everything apple pro, and a gaming PC, and android tablet always, I wish to use my android tablet with Djay, only reason I’m keeping ipad because of Djay, I always prefer Android tablet than iPad.
