YOUR QUESTION:

I’m trying to remap the ability to deck swap acapella across to another deck. Can anyone tell what the differences are between solo, exclusive and active? This will help me when mapping to ensure I get it best I can.

Be default the flx 10 has swap from deck 1 to 3. I’m remapping to go from 1 to 2. I have it working kind of but was wondering them what the differences are between those 3 elements.

Hi @Dysfunk_DJ, I’ve asked our engineering team to confirm, but this is what I concluded with my own testing:

  1. Neural Mix Solo: Solos the selected NM Part, but can be combined with other NM Part Solos. For example NM Solo Acapella and NM Solo Drums.
  2. Neural Mix Solo Exclusive: Solos only the selected NM Part and clears any other NM Solos. So only one Solo plays at a time.
  3. Neural Mix Active: This seems to be identical to NM Mute. Basically an On/Off Mute Toggle.

EDIT: the above is correct. The main difference between Active/Mute is the MIDI out:

  • Active lights the LED whenever the stem isn’t off due to a mute or solo (i.e. when it’s audible)
  • Mute only lights up when that stem is muted and doesn’t care about solo.

Thanks buddy. Really helpful. So when we’re doing the instant double, solo deck a acapella, solo deck b instrumental move. Which one do you think is the better one to use?

You’re welcome @Dysfunk_DJ. In my personal mapping I used Neural Mix Solo (2ch: Acappella) and Neural Mix Solo (2ch: Instrumental). This seems to work well for me. The Solo Exclusive might be the better option though for situations where you might already have NM enabled on the track.

Thank you @Slak_Jaw

No problem buddy!

Hi again @Dysfunk_DJ, I added an edit to my answer above which explains the difference between Mute/Active.
