How come the EJay app can offer offline integration with Soundcloud?
How come the EJay app can offer offline integration with Soundcloud?
This weekend ; i used Djay pro for the first time on my MAC, in a cellar with unstable internet connection, I discovered this in the party, when the music get down,
It was terrible. I thought that the offline spotify music in the app itself was sufficient enough to play without streaming but this was not true.
good point !!!
Just buy a simple 3G router like a TP-LINK MR3020 so you would have a dedicated hotspot.
It looks like I need to go back to mixing spotify on 2 ipods rather than in the Djay appā¦shame. But I still have my vinyl!
Iāve been DJāing with Serato and Traktor since their release. Coming from an all Vinyl background when DVS hit the shelves in the form of Stanton/NIās Final Scratch I was all over it and it truly revolutionised DJāing.
If Iām totally honest I always viewed Alogoriddims DJay App as a tool for the amateur DJ and never thought it was going to be a serious contender for the professional DJ.
At the BPM show last year I was experimenting with scratching on various controllers to see how close to vinyl and DVS theyāve got.
I was particularly impressed with some of the Reloop offerings as I particularly liked the feel of their jogwheels.
I also recently had my eyes opened to the amount of good music that has surprisingly become available through Spotify.
Once again, I never thought that Spotify could be a serious resource for DJās but was pleasantly surprised.
A couple of months ago I read about Algoriddims integration with Spotify and decided to dip my toe in the water.
After a little bit of research I purchased myself an iPad, Reloop Beatpad, Djay2 App and a subscription to Spotify.
Since I got all the kit Iāve been having great fun mixing and scratching tunes from the Spotify library at home and even a couple of parties at friends houses.
Admittedly, in terms of scratching, itās no match for my Serato or Traktor DVS systems. But for the convenience of being able to just chuck an iPad and the Reloop Beatpad into a rucksack and rock a party, thereās no match.
Last night, I was asked to DJ at a Golden Wedding anniversary. Not my usual cup of tea, but I thought āWhy not?ā
With Spotify, I donāt have to buy the rubbish tunes that I know Iāll be asked to play, Iāll simply borrow them for the night from the Spotify library.
I asked the hosts and guests of the party to email me a list of tunes they would like to hear on the the night and proceeded to build playlists on Spotify.
Before leaving for the party last night I remembered to go onto Spotify and make all the playlists āAVAILABLE OFFLINEā
YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW I FELT WHEN I SETUP MY EQUIPMENT IN FRONT OF 150 GUESTS WHO WERE JUST FINISHING THEIR SIT DOWN MEAL AND WAS GREETED WITH A SCREEN ON MY IPAD SAYING āYOU NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET IN ORDER TO USE SPOTIFYā
To say I felt sick was an understatement!!!
Now I know you are all thinking what a twat for not checking it worked before going to the venue and yes, I do feel a twat!!!
But I honestly thought that making my playlists available offline would work and had read nothing in any documentation that told me any different.
THIS IS A MONUMENTAL FAILING OF THIS APP!!!
THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSES IMMEDIATELY!!!
I donāt care what it requiresā¦Just get it done!!!
Both Algoriddim and Spotify will benefit massively, so even if you have to form a joint company in order to allow sharing between Apps, JUST DO IT!!!
The only reason I now have the DJay2 App on my iPad and a subscription to Spotify is because I thought it allowed you to DJ from offline playlists!!!
I feel conned and will be ending my subscription to Spotify and asking for my money back for the DJay2 App if this isnāt addressed soon.
YOU GUYS HAVE THE OPORTUNITY TO REVOLUTIONISE THE DJ SCENE WITH YOUR SOFTWARE INTEGRATING WITH SPOTIFY OFFLINE!!!
THIS IS YOUR USP!!!
THIS IS YOUR OPORTUNITY TO TAKE ON THE BIG BOYS LIKE SERATO AND TRAKTOR!!!
ADD DVS SUPPORT AS WELL AND YOU ARE IN THEREā¦TRUST ME!!!
I couldnāt agree moreā¦Iāve just written a lengthy post on this and how I got caught out DJāing the other night because I was blissfully unaware Spotify wasnāt available offline.
I really hope they sort it soon.
How cool would it be for someone who has booked you to DJ at their party to be able to send you their own Spotify Playlists to DJ from OFFLINE at their party?
Pro DJās using digital formats already pay for a āPro Dub Lisenceā at a cost of roughly Ā£217 a year plus VAT.
I would be happy to pay a Spotify subscription for a Pro DJ service that enabled offline playlists.
I would however not be expecting to pay for the Pro Dub lisence as well.
I have some tunes in my collection that I originally purchased on vinyl, then bought on CD, then purchased on iTunes and now pay a subscription to listen to on Spotify.
Surely if you have purchased a Pro Dub lisence as well you should already qualify for offline playlists in a DJ app.
Rest assured, guys, we know how important this to you. Unfortunately, thereās nothing we can do about āsandboxingā.
Weād let you know immediately, if there would be any chance for us do implement Spotify Offline Playlists.
Thank you so much for your words. It couldnāt have been explained any better. Great work!
Iām DJing two birthday parties in April, and thought it would be great if they created a playlist of the songs they want to hear using Spotify. Since we all use Spotify, it made collaboration a snap. However, it seems that there is no offline mode available, which is highly disappointing. Iām hoping that either this issue is resolved before the parties, or that they have an internet connection at the venue they rented. I already use Traktor, but really, Spotify is wonderful, and is one of the main reasons why I purchased DJay Pro.
I wanted to mention that I streamed Spotify using my iPad as a hotspot over cellular LTE, connected over USB to my MacBook Pro, the entire time without any problem! Using ādefaultā quality settings, the entire 8 hour set used about 950 MB. I wanted to use the āhighā quality setting, but was uncertain if the streaming speed would be sufficient since I was playing underground. Iām not mentioning this to negate the necessity of offline playlists, but to give feedback on my particular experience using cellular data as a possible workaround in the case there is no WLAN.
I would also love to see DJay Pro have offline playlists. Itās really something that is necessary considering streaming is not always reliable or available, making disasters during a performance more likely.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled spotifiy offline playlists.
hi!
is it possilbe offline playlists from spotify play with dj2??
Most everyone in this thread is ignoring the pink elephant in the roomā¦
I too would love to have offline playlists HOWEVER, the Spotify terms of service clearly do not allow a Pro DJ to use Spotify for a gig that they are being remunerated for.
I would also agree with Mikael above who mentioned Djay not wanting to sling mud on their partner. Spotify is the Dog, Djay Pro is the tail of that dog. If they get into a pissing match, guess who loses? We doā¦
Spotify pays a licensing fee/royalty to artists every time their song is played. I might think that it would be difficult to make it possible to log all offline plays in Djay Pro and share that with Spotify. I also donāt think that Spotify or their artists would be pleased that Pro DJās are using DJay Pro for paying gigs since itās not legal. now IF and only IF there were a Pro DJ License that could be purchased from Spotify, allowing offline capabilities in Djay Pro, what would that be worth to Pro DJās an extra $10 a month? $20 per month? Letās be honest with each other; if anyone that currently is using Djay Pro for their paying gig doesnāt feel justified paying for the music, then youāre not being objective.
My vote is to have a Pro DJ version with access for Pro DJās only.
Iām willing to hear objective and rational feedback without emotion from others.
I will not respond to hatersā¦
Thanks for the great software Djay Pro. Rock onā¦
I anyone is actually interested in how Spotify pays artistsā¦ http://www.spotifyartists.com/spotifyā¦
I agree, I just downloaded the trial version but many clubs have no WIFI or very bad WIFI which removes the utility of having spotify.
I do believe we have more than 100+ on the spotify forum that are also pushing this. Any of you that have not gone over there and added your support please do. I was told we needed at least 100 over there for Spotify to pay any attention. So now that we are there it is the time to add your vote and make it count. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Liveā¦ I am not holding my breath but I do have my fingers and toes crossed that Spotify and Algoriddim can get together on this and see the mutual benefit for both of there customers.
I proposed dynamic queues as a possible legitimate work around. You can see it on its own thread. If you like it up vote it http://community.algoriddim.com/algorā¦
