Hi, have you link your external drive to Djay Pro? (“My external” is the name of my hdd)
Hi, I tried linking several folders at different levels (I linked the drive, the music collection file, and a folder with only songs).
A lot more files were recognized but not all of them, I’d say less than 50% were recognized. Moreover, if I scroll through the “linked files” section, sometimes the app crashes and closes. My collection has about 6000 flac files and my ipad is an ipad Pro 10.5" … wonder if this device simply does not have the RAM to perform the analysis of such a collection…
Apple Music is the simplest method.
Add my entire dj folder to (iTunes)
No playlist.
Add those songs to iPad
Add your djay media library
To iPad
Add all songs from Apple Music local to a new playlist in your collection called “anything”
Once all loaded. All your playlist are populated and songs are found.
You only have to transfer the music to the iPad one time. You can update the playlist many times.
Gotta say.
Love the iTunes.
Still works for me
Does this method have Apple Music tracks replace your existing versions of the track?
No I have not experienced this
I have Apple Music.
Chose not to upload library.
When one chooses not to upload their library limits you to some features, which I don’t need.
I’d rather protect my record collection that started with vinyl uploading.
It’s now the “norm” for djs both pro and amateur to run multiple softwares on multiple devices along with 3rd party apps and integrations so freedom of movement and flexiblility is now widely expected and can be acheived with a lot of other systems.
Algoriddim have their reasons for putting limitations on functionality of features such as this which I understand but they have ended up alienating themselves and with the changing landscape I believe it will end up causing them more harm than good.
I think that the main reason is
- too many different operating systems, which all have different security boundaries and all operating systems behaves differently
- too many different technologies how to solve this issues, but 0 which is compatible with all operating systems
- too many programming languages, how to solve it, but no actual support on programming language to solve it like restricted access to operating system features which would be required
There will never be a perfect software. You pay for what you get and find a work around. Lol. Dj’n is so simple. Get your music on your device get to the venue and press play. Stable platform that works with mostly all gear that’s all I want .
I’m good with djay pro. Small mobile doing my own thing, it suits me just fine but other users have a lot more demands and requirements which it cannot fulfill.
I’m just not sure how they plan to develop and grow their small share of the market while denying some very basic functionality
I don’t feel that’s their plan at all. I think they are happy right where they are.
Ipad 9th generation
IOS version 18.6
Djay version 5.4.2
MacBook Pro (Mid 2012)
MacOS Catalina Version 10.15.7
Djay Pro version 5.2.9
Hi. what is the easiest way to transfer my collection playlists from my Ipad to other devices? Sometimes I have to play on different setups such as CDJ’s or serato and would like to have my whole collection of playlists available. I was looking at the option of transferring all my collection & playlists to my Macbook pro and then use Dj conversion utility to convert my playlists but when I try to relink my whole collection of songs it only lets me do one at a time instead of the whole collection of missing songs at once like Traktor or other softwares out there let you do. It will take me months to relink my collection of songs if I can only do one at a time. Traktor was able to do this task 10 years ago but Djay can’t in this day and age? There has to be an easier way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
Hi @Dj_SaBa, I’ve merged your new topic with this existing one. Please refer to the steps outlined above:
Man, this is so frustrating. One easy solution would be to allow relink of the whole collection at once by allowing to select whole folder directories instead of having to do one file at a time. I was a Traktor user before Djay and this feature was available since the beginning. This feature would allow us to use Dj conversion utility to transfer playlists from different platforms
How can we relink multiple files at once instead of having to do each file separately, one at a time? If I have to relink 5000 tracks that would take me months. Traktor allows you to select a whole folder directory and relink all the files at once that are located in the folder directory. This would be the solution to everyone’s problem on this 5 year long problem. Can you bring this up to the developers attention?
recursive folder import …
Playlist sync + relative paths for the files defined in the “iCloud Music” alias …
So many of us are crying and asking for Collection sync across devices … how difficult could it be …
This request was made in 2020? Lol.
All of the innovation this app has made over the years. There at least has to be an official manual way of doing this even similar to the old iTunes style of having to plug in your device to your MacBook to sync music would be SOMETHING.
This would be sweet. As of now I use finder integration because I can do my folder and song edits on my main pc desktop and sync them with Google Drive where I set djay to read from. It leads to a lot of duplicates and wasted hard drive space but at least everything is synced.
Thanks for the additional feedback @Austinjacobm94
