Tracks skipping?

Went and purchased dJay Pro, after playing around with its features about 3-4 hours it sudednly skipped really bad, like a very bad CD, 30sec forward and then after silence of 3 seconds it continued to play pretending nothing happened. There was also an IOAudioStream/clipIfNecessary error written in console. Also, there was a swap file generated by Mac Os by then. Maybe mint new MacBook with 4 GB of memory can’t handle dJay, maybe it can’t handle memory swapping in Mavericks and Yosemite? The problem is, it can’t be downgraded to Mountain Lion. Any more ideas? Traktor Pro in that same macbook have never skipped by the way.

This was / is Apple’s Core Audio problem.

Sierra update seems to work for me so far - Traktor and iTunes are skip free now.
Have not tested dJay Pro.

I’m a new user and it happened to me last night during a show

I have the same problem. I use a Vestex Spin 2 and scan through every track from start to finish and back and that usually works but not always or I forget to scan and then all the sudden it skips.

I bought Djay Pro thinking it would work better with the new OSX. This really isn’t good enough. It used to work great a year ago and now it’s just plain shit.

Same problem even to this day for me!
I have fully updated software and upgraded MacBook Pro. Library is on 1TB internal hard drive, so no connection issues either. Emailed Algoriddim support several times and they seem to not care about the issue.

I have the same problem with my retina MacBook Pro, iTunes library is on internal SSD so idk what my problem is

Hello,

I had a gig a week ago where I played for 4 hours, then for 5 hours. Within the 4 hours that I played, I had 2 incidents where the music skipped (as described in this thread by a number of users). Within the following 5 hours that I played the following day, it skipped 4 times.

I have the latest djay Pro, and my computer spec is as the following:
OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

I don’t think that my computer is underpowered. One thing that I do notice is that when I’m running djay Pro, my CPU is generally in high use, even if I’m not doing anything with it (just letting it idle).

Btw, when I was experimenting, I noticed the CPU usage spiked to 99%+ when the audio skipped. djay Pro in general seems to be a CPU hog where when I’m doing absolutely nothing, it’s using 20% CPU.

This may be a related issue: http://community.algoriddim.com/algor…

I’m trying something and so far so good (after about 3 hours of playing). I noticed that I was logged into Spotify. When I DJ, I turn off wifi, so maybe djay was trying to login to Spotify?

I came across these threads:

I logged out of Spotify and now letting it play to see if the audio skips and/or CPU spikes. So far, no CPU spikes, and no audio skips that I’ve noticed.

I made a post with some details here: http://community.algoriddim.com/algor…

I just had a 5 hour gig the other day and I too experienced skipping. One of the main reasons I use djay pro is its integration to spotify. I recently just got a hold of a VCI 400 just to keep using djay pro ( my old VCI 380 was not supported). Anyway, now I am desperate for answers as I have an upcoming wedding this weekend. I wanted to upgrade to Sierra but I do not want to risk skipping during a show. Every day I wake up hoping there is an update for djay pro but they do not bring them out as often as say Serato.
I think that for this weekend I will have to go with Virtual DJ. Sucks but oh well.

So I played at a wedding 2 weeks ago and DJay handled good. Not flawless but good. I think only on one occasion the waveforms on a song lagged.
Yesterday I played at a quinceanera/ with spotify and songs did not skip either. Some waveform lagging so there’s still room for improvement.
I was a little nervous because I had just upgraded my 2014 Mac Pro to Sierra. Also worth to mention that I turn off my virus program when I use DJay pro, close all programs and make sure there’s nothing running while I’m performing with the software. I did have issues when typing looking for songs I would accidentally hit on shortcut keys that made me do unwanted loops or take me to cue points. It was embarrasing at times so I need to figure out how to turn off those shortcuts.

Hi Matt Allen,

of course we are caring about your issue. Did you not receive an answer mail?
Also could you tell us about your mixing routine, are you working with the sync a lot?

Cheers,
Lukas E.

Hi there,

are you experiencing the skipping with the djay iOS application or the OS X version?

Cheers,
Lukas E.

Thank you Dimitris Soumelis for sharing this information.
I forwarded this the error message to a developer.

Cheers.
Lukas E.

Follow up:
Are you using an external soundcard or only the DDJ SB? Did the problem occure after using the DDJ SB? How long are you experiencing this issue.

Cheers,
Lukas E.

Ok thank you. I looked up the error message in the internet and it can happen for two reasons: (1) You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or (2) you don’t have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.

Are there other programs running in the background while you are using djay?

Cheers,Lukas E.

Hi Dimitris,

the issue appears to be at the system side and we are thinking about how to proceed.

Cheers,Lukas E.

Googling the error appears to be on the system side. To be honest if the problem would be the cause we would have way more complaints.
Like Rain Ader says, updating your OS is always a good thing to do.

Nevertheless we are looking into this and I will keep you guys posted.

Thank you for your help Rain Ader, always appreciated.

Cheers,
Lukas E.
