Djay 6.0 dream features?

Thanks for the input @aaron1138

I would love to see a feature such as Serato’s scratch bank to easily and quickly access my scratch samples. Being an owner of a DDJ XP2, I could use some of the unused pads to load scratch samples, or allow a Replace Pad Mode to give users the option to assign Scratch Bank to any given pad mode that may not be used, e.g., Pad Mode #2 on the DDJ XP2.

Hi @Thoris_Johnson, there’s an existing suggestion for scratch banks if you like to go upvote it

Thanks. I just casted my vote.

You’re welcome @Thoris_Johnson. Thanks for voting.

I just really want them to add the four dock feature to android :sob::folded_hands:. It seems unfair for me to be paying the same price but not receiving the same benefits as an ios user. It seems like it would be a simple thing to add to considering that it is in fact on iPhones, but yet it still hasn’t been added even when it is a wanted feature.

Thanks for the input @starxia

Feature Requests and Performance Feedback for DJ Pro

The sound quality of the stems feature on DJ Pro is already excellent, clean and significantly improved. However, I believe there are several areas where DJ Pro could catch up to Serato in terms of workflow and performance.

First, regarding stems performance and latency, Serato loads stems noticeably faster. Toggling them on and off is instantaneous and glitch free, whereas DJ Pro suffers from noticeable delays and latency when switching. I am not sure if this is related to beat sync processing, but the lag definitely needs optimization.

Second, concerning stems effects like Echo Out and Brake Stop, Serato allows DJs to choose between Echo Out, Brake Stop, or simply turning the effect off, offering three distinct options for various transition styles. In DJ Pro, we are currently forced to commit to only one of these, which limits creative flexibility.

Third, regarding the Command L locate track feature, while I appreciate having it, Serato’s implementation is smoother. DJ Pro takes you to the exact source playlist / crate the track was loaded from, which is fine. However, if I have that same track organized in a different playlist or set for another gig, I would love to simply navigate to that crate and hit Command L to instantly find it there, without having to scroll or manually search through the list.

Fourth, hardware connectivity is by far the biggest issue. Serato’s connectivity is vastly superior and far less stressful; connecting to CDJs and DJ RX controllers, both old and new, is seamless. Conversely, DJ Pro struggles to connect to a DJM 900 mixer, even though it has a USB connection. This inconsistency is a major drawback and a nightmare changing over in busy clubs, its so bad some nights its safer for me to just load up serato and dj with serato because of that situation.

Finally, the library recommendations, filters, and metadata need enhancement. Users should be able to set precise BPM and key ranges, as well as include or exclude specific folders from the recommendations. Additionally, AI integration could be a game changer for metadata completion. The system could automatically move the remixer credit from the song title to the artist field, fetch the official release year from DSPs rather than relying on file tags, and help retag tracks properly. These AI driven metadata improvements would make our filters far more effective, resulting in cleaner, better organized, and more accurate music libarys and sets overall.

Another feature I would request is customisable columns for crates and playlists, so that I can have certain playlists ordered numerically and others sorted by BPM, key, or whatever works best for that set.

Thanks for the feedback @Owe_Marley

It’s my understanding that stem on/off has a little “effect” on them to smoothen the transition. At least that was how I experienced it. Dunno if this is true, if so it could become a configurable on/off option maybe.

Hi @olafmol, I think you’re referring to the Mute FX. These are configurable.

I was responding to the comment quoted above. In my experience the “lag” when enabling/disabling a stem track feels like a “smoothening” transition ..

yes, that’s correct, but for some transitions, I want to do more specific things and DJ pro does not allow this workflow yet:
brake stop the stem, cut the Stem off instantly, or even just turn it off and play the instrumental from the other deck on the side without the echo. Now imagine having to toggle that individually for every single transition.

Serato does offer these options:
an Echo Out (instrumental or acapella), a Brake Stop (instrumental), and an Instant Turn Off (acapella or instrumental). Each has its own specific use case, and rotating between them does sound really nice for certain transitions. The problem with DJ pro is that I’ve been using an FX to help with this i love it it sounds nice, but once it’s enabled, it stays on for everything, rather than being per transition. those small things matter to me and help dial in the set and transitions.

Thanks for the additional info @Owe_Marley

I would absolutely love that for all the other stems. But for vocals, I would still want the tail to ring out when I turn vocals off.

For the bassline, drums, or melody, though, I would prefer an abrupt cut because it makes the transitions feel so much cleaner. and even a brake stop would be amazing for cutting off drums pls

Thanks for the feedback @Owe_Marley

I have couple more dream feature to throw out there.

A high pass low pass filter just for the vocal stem would be incredible. Currently I am lowering the vocal volume with the spare channel knobs and using the filter at the same time, letting the melody or bassline sit perfectly in the mix and it is honestly dope. I am just pushing my luck here to see if we could get a single knob dedicated to that whole move. :crossed_fingers:

Here is a feature request that would save me a lot of time.

My library shows some songs at double time BPM, which is occasionally great for creative flips, but it completely messes up my sorting because those tracks no longer sit in their correct BPM range.

I have been duplicating them and manually setting one to the original tempo and one labled as fast for the bpm flip scenario, but doing that for every rap track is exhausting.

Can we please get a right click option that lets me toggle to show both bpms or between double time and original BPM without needing to manually organize it duplicate it or load the song, halftime it, and reload it just to get it into the right spot in my library? please and thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion @Owe_Marley

Adding to this list because he has hit the majority of the features I would like in the original post (CUSTOM PLAYLIST COLUMNS IS A MUST!!!)

I would like to see channel faders on hardware also controls video opacity on Djay. Ive been doing a lot of video gigs lately and as I am trying very hard to transition to Djay fully, these little things keeps me having to go back to Serato.

I’d also like to see an option where if my hardware has 4 channels, and I want to use deck 1 & 4 instead of 1 & 2 (or whatever combo) I don’t have to be on four deck view on Djay to do so. I can just tell Djay what decks to link to via two deck view and it works that way, just like Serato.

And while I am here, let’s add FAVORITE PLAYLIST
