Neural Mix delay - iPhone 11, MacBook Air 2015

Thanks for confirming @Brown_bkp

Djay Pro should at least give us the kind or model of system spec requirements bcos I can’t understand when Neural Mix says 100 percent performance in my iPhone device and still has lags

Must everyone break the bank to get an m4 to be able to have good quality of neural mix while serato doesn’t do that i really just think they should work on that and reduce how djay pro heat up older model of laptop and ios versions

Hi @Brown_bkp, that 100% in the Advanced Settings refers to the sound quality of the Neural Mix separation not the latency or performance. There are a lot of factors that can impact performance including Keylock, free drive space and background applications. Please refer to the linked topic below for my personal tips for using djay on iOS.

The 100% refers to the quality of the stems. But of course, the individual stems have to be extracted from the audio track. And depending on the performance, this takes a certain amount of time, which is more or less noticeable. But then you have the stems in the best possible quality (100%).

You can get around this to a certain extent by setting the waveform view so that the individual stems are displayed directly. Then it is calculated directly when the track is loaded and not only when you activate Neural Mix in the running track.

As mentioned, your current iPhone already provides you with the best possible stem quality. However, the process of generating stems in this quality comes at a price.

Thanks for the response i appreciate but i wish if djay pro could find a way to tweak around and still have a very good performance on older system i understand the 100 percent in advance settings are for the audio quality and i must commend djay pro tech team it has super clean stem audio compared to any other djs software but a little delay on older system wen activating neural mix is a bit not good for people that cant afford to get the latest m4 i think djay pro team should consider that also

Of course, that’s not ideal, but it’s a fundamental problem. It affects every other piece of software and every other app in exactly the same way. Every app you have on your iPhone will run better and faster on a newer device. And it’s impressive that Djay can be used with full functionality on such old devices with so few compromises. That’s not always the case.

So the delay in activating Neural Mix is annoying, but that’s all. And if it really bothers you that much (which I can understand), you can fix it as described without buying a new device.

I will try that thanks :+1:

  • Device model : macbook pro 2015 3.1 ghz core i7
  • Version of operating system *(e.g. macOS 10.15 catalina
  • Version of djay : 5.4
  • Hardware/controllers used : all controllers even without a controller
    Also
    Iphone model =11
    Ios version is 17.6.1
    64 gig storage
    All controller even with controller

My problem is when I tried to use Neural Mix there was a bit delay before it was finally activated later i noticed Neural Mix doesn’t analyze on song load except if it has been triggered which has been causing the delay while activating neural mix so i decided to turn on the crossfader fx using neural mix drum swap and vocal cut neural mix was faster when activated with that but I have some big problems while using that but i guess the fault is from neural mix when loading a song with crossfader fx turned on it takes seconds to load and when seeking the track through or jumping to a particular cue point its takes 4 or 5 seconds to respond

The VIDEO! I :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:    it!
OMG, this was what I had always wanted to demonstrate in a video and your video nailed it! On my MBP 2019 i7, I tend to get the same hotcue lag behaviour deep into my set always. Yours is gross, mine is a bit mild - almost hard to notice from a client perspective but extremely annoying to the dj who wants to drum the cue or drop a beat on-cue.

@Slak_Jaw I once posted here awhile back about Hot Cue Lag (Quantize is OFF) and you asked me for a video. I couldn’t figure out how to take a video to demonstrate the problem (my hand hitting a cue pad and the sound delay - no matter how i tried to record, it couldn’t capture what i was experiencing) I wasn’t tech-savie to that extend, but this video demonstrates exactly what i meant. The topic unfortunately died.

Yes I think the issue is with neural mix because when neural mix is not activated or crossfader fx is not activated it works perfectly i just want this to be perfect including neural mix lag when it is activated

Hi @Brown_bkp, please do not create multiple topics for the same thing. I’ve merged your new one with this existing one. Thank you for the additional information and video. I will share this with the team and get back to you.

Hi @Armigo, thanks for linking this to your original topic - this is very helpful as well! I’ve shared all this with the team to see if this helps identify the issue. I’ll report back when I have news…

No i dont think this is the truth of the matter because i found out the problem is neural mix is not being analyzed when a song is load it only start analyzing when the neural mix button is triggered also when crossfader fx is on and set to drum swap or voice cut NM responds immediately but i have a lot of issues with song loading been slow and cue point jumping or track seeking wont respond immediately as described in my lastest video

Yes, that’s right. But this process is much faster with newer devices. Of course, one could argue whether it would make sense to always perform this analysis directly when loading the track, but that would lead to delays elsewhere. That would only shift the problem and cause annoyance, especially for those who do not use Neural Mix or do not use it regularly. So, the same applies here as elsewhere: more computing power = better performance - just like with any other app.

Yes you were right i still wish solutions could be made based on the performance of older laptops with NM, not everyone could break the bank for a new laptop i just wish it could get better for an instance serato stem doesnt work well on older laptop also but serato improves stem folders which allow you to analyze your music with stem but will take a up more storage on older laptop and its super fast with no lags …i which something similar could be done also or totally fixed the issue on djay pro

Hi @Brown_bkp, I recommend that you create a new Suggestion topic for a pre-analyzed Neural Mix option like Serato. Then you and others can upvote it and I can suggest it to the dev team.
