There’s been a lot of noise about Serato’s hardware implementation of STEMs. So for the last several weeks, I’ve been working on some custom MIDI mappings and Djay settings to achieve similar results.
I have mapped these to the DJ TechTools Midi Fighter Spectra (DJ TechTools Midi Fighter Spectra - Neural Mix / Serato STEMs Mapping), MF 3D (DJ TechTools Midi Fighter 3D - Neural Mix / Serato STEMs Mapping) and MF 64 (DJ TechTools Midi Fighter 64 - Neural Mix / Serato STEMs Mapping) as well as the Reloop Ready.
Basically, I mapped 4 pads to Neural Mix Drums Mute, Neural Mix Bass Mute, Neural Mix Instruments Mute and Neural Mix Vocals Mute. On the Shift layer of these pads, you can Hold the button to Solo each of the STEMs.
I then mapped another 4 pads below the 4 above to control Instant FX 5-8:
For Instant FX 5-8 the following settings are what I’ve found work best for me, but you can select your own options for Drums and Vocals within Djay:
To change the Instant FX settings in Djay do the following:
- Switch to Instant FX mode
- Select the pencil icon in the top right
- Select the 3 dots next to the FX you want to change
- Scroll down near the bottom in the Neural Mix section and select the desired Instant FX.
