Hi all, newcomer to DJay Pro, coming from Traktor, been DJ’ing (house, disco) since the 80s. Love DJay pro, but have 3 missing features that make me scratch my head if i’m missing something?
automatic creation of start cue point when loading a song without cue points. Just give an option to define the cue at the first sound threshold, or at the first detected downbeat. This would save me tons of time!
a visual indication of what deck is currently “selected” (or active?). I use midi controllers and I want to see what deck is selected for “relative” midi actions. Also, a way through the UI to select a deck, clicking on the header or waveform doesn’t seem to do the trick?
disable the crossfader setting! Why isn’t this there? I’m a house DJ, i use the line faders for mixing, i disable the crossfader always…
thanks! With feedback i mean visual feedback in the GUI. Maybe i missed it, but i cannot visually see what deck is actually selected/active?
Currently the implementation seems to be that the active deck is the one that has the open crossfader or line-fader, ie when sound is going to the main out.
I think it’s trying to be a little to smart, or to “fader oriented”.
Hi @olafmol, welcome to the Community! I was also a long-time Traktor user before switching to djay. Thanks for the suggestions, however, there are already topics for each of these. Please navigate to the linked topics below where you can comment further and Vote at the top left of each page. Also, there are some workarounds for the Crossfader disable.
Thank you, good to learn you guys are aware and on the ball! Is there a roadmap for upcoming feature releases? (sorry, i come from a software development and Q&A background LOL)
ok, understood. One more question: the auto-cue feature request is up there since July 2024, so almost 2 years. Why is it not implemented yet? It’s a huge Quality-of-Life improvement, and considering your engineering-capabilities with all the auto-gridding it should be relatively trivial to add?
I used to think Traktor had the best analysis accuracy, but since version 5, Djay has become just as powerful.
Djay’s strong point is that you can change the curve of the vertical faders. It’s a great feature.
If you use variable curve mapping for CF, you can keep the CF fixed as before, and you won’t have much trouble even if your mixer doesn’t have CF bypass.
The real-time stems are also top-notch, and you can swap channels for each stem during mixing.
Above all, it’s an irreplaceable feature.
You probably just need to get used to Djay, but once you understand it better, you’ll probably like everything except the Library.
i like DJay pro, that’s why i’m paying money to them But i’m still wondering why after 2 years something so valuable, highly requested, and a common feature in most competing dj-software, has not been added to the features?
The thing is, the feature is valued by you, it may not be valued by others. For example i have a feature request that i deem as far more valuable than your cue point request, does that mean i should expect it to take higher priority than your request, and tell the Algoriddim staff that it is far more important than other requests?
You made the request, they have a list of requests (likely hundreds) and a small team of engineers working on the software, it might take 2 years, it might never be done, that is the crux of it.
Looking at the 3 links provided above, each of your requests have 24, 8 and 16 votes respectively…. im not sure on the exact numbers around here but that certainly doesnt scream ‘highly requested’ to me.
I completely understand how you feel. It definitely lacks some basic features, doesn’t it? Even now, I still prefer using TRAKTOR for CDJ and DVS setups. However, I prefer using djay at clubs that only have controllers, since mapping everything in Traktor can be such a hassle.
I’ve used electric tape to disable the crossfader on my pioneer deck
It’s still used when activated auto mode, so I shake it a bit when going back to manual. (auto can be useful is going to bathroom )
