OneLibrary USB setup for CDJ-3000

Hello everyone on the forum.

I’m writing to ask for advice from you gurus of this software.

I purchased a new USB stick to use exclusively with Djay Pro.

I’d like to try it on a CDJ 3000.

I’ve been using Rekordbox for many years, and occasionally Djay Pro, so I’m not as familiar with it as you are.

I have a few questions about this software.

How do I know which tracks I’ve already exported to my library and which still need to be exported?

I manage my main library entirely from iTunes, so when I open Djay Pro, everything appears.

Once I’ve created a new playlist in my library, how can I transfer it to Rekordbox?

Thanks in advance for any replies and advice.

Hi @Sergio1, please refer to the linked topic below and let me know if that helps:

Hi Slak_Jaw, thank you for your quick reply.

It’s not information about OneLibrary that I’m looking for.

Forgive my poor English.

My problem is this:

I open Djay Pro and find my entire iTunes library, and so far so good.

I start transferring some music to my library.

Does the software somehow highlight the music I’ve already transferred and the music that hasn’t yet been transferred?

In Rekordbox, does it highlight the music already in the library and any music that still needs to be imported?

Once I’ve created a playlist from my library and sent it to a USB drive, can I transfer this playlist to Rekordbox?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice you may have.

Transferring Playlists

  • Exporting from iTunes → djay Pro is a manual process (no automation/sync).
  • Exporting from djay Pro → USB is a manual process (no automation/sync).
  • In both cases, it is good practice to delete old playlists before exporting new-updated playlists.

USB

  • Old and updated playlists will use the same name on the USB, so old & new playlists look like duplicates. This is why it is good practice to delete old USB playlists.
  • Deleting USB playlists does not delete music files. The USB contains all music files exported to the USB since it was created.

Rekordbox workflow to create a USB that supports both OneLibrary and Device Library:

In Rekordbox:

  1. Right-click USB Device, select Update Collection.
  2. Right-click USB playlist, select Import Playlist.
  3. Right-click Rekordbox playlist, select Export Playlist → USB Device.

Good morning. Thank you very much for your detailed reply.

Now everything is clear to me.

I hope that over time the library and flash drive management will improve.

Thank you again and have a good day.

I noticed an interesting bug when syncing files to my USB last night. I have my library sorted into a series of nested folders, with smart playlists at the very bottom of the tree. I added the whole master folder to my USB, and everything was synced, no problem. The issue arose when I imported new songs to my library and re-added the entire master folder to the USB. Instead of merging, a duplicate master folder was created on the USB that did not contain any of the new songs I had imported.

Currently the workaround is to delete the master folder from the USB, and then resync everything, but this feels a bit janky. Are there any plans to integrate a “sync playlists to USB” function like with Rekordbox?

Hi @shmimel, I’ve merged you topic with this existing one as I think they are closely related. Please see above and let me know if that helps. Thanks!

It does! Sorry for creating a new thread when this one exists. Glad to know that there is an agreed upon workaround.

I would love to see an auto-sync feature in the future!

No problem @shmimel. You’re welcome

Just picked up the new M5 macbook pro - djay is now super speedy!

I’m using OneLibrary to transfer some playlists from my master library onto the new macbook. Some playlists contain the same tracks as other playlists, i.e. the same physical file.

Probably a stupid question…When importing to the new macbook and copying those files to internal storage…does it duplicate files if the same track features in two or more lists, or does it just use the same track but in multiple lists?

Hi @discoian, I’ve merged your new topic with this one. Please see above and let me know if that helps answer your question. Thanks!
