Hello,
I’m using all recent updates for Djay Pro and macOS.
Problem: I click into the search field for tidal. Type the Artist I’m looking for. The cursor just jumps out of the search field pretty randomly. If I don’t recognize it while typing away, of course hot keys are being fired and everything is jacked up in front of a thousand people.
Support doesn’t answer for a week now.
Can somebody please help? This is insane, I’m having gigs every weekend.
I tried multiple fresh installs. I tried cleaning out caches etc. tidal has no answer too.
Please help!
Hi @Timo_Fielker, welcome to the Community. When creating new topics, please do not forget to answer the questions in our template with specific details about your setup not just “iPad” or “Latest Version”. This helps all of our community moderators to provide the most effective support to users with the utmost efficiency. Thanks!

I was unable to reproduce your issue as described. Since this sounds repeatable, can you please try to capture a short video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? Thanks!
Device Model: Macbook Air 2020 M1
macOS: Sonoma 14.6.1
Djay Pro: 5.2.6
Controller: Denon MC4000
The issue occurs randomly, very hard to make a video of it. I’ll describe it better: I open Djay Pro, I click on the tidal icon, I click into the search field, the search field changes the border color to turquoise, I start typing (for example: linkin park), after the letters li the border color of the search field changes back to black and no more typing the rest of linkin park is possible. I have to click again into the search field to type the rest. But when you are at a gig with a lot of people you can’t focus on when it’s jumping out of the search field and when you are firing hot keys instead. You hab that issue 2016, I found a older topic on this in this community here.
I hope that helps.
Thanks for the details about your setup @Timo_Fielker.
- Can you please share a link to the issue from 2016?
- Are you typing on your laptop keyboard or using an external keyboard?
- Do you experience any similar issues with other apps on your Mac?
Here is the link: Strange Bug Traktor S2 & djayPro
I’m typing on my macbook’s keyboard.
Never had any issues in other apps
Thanks @Timo_Fielker. I’ll have to pass this onto our engineering team to see if they can replicate this on their end and offer any suggestions. I’ll report back when I hear back. Thanks!
Thank you! For now I just found out that I can disable all shortcuts on the keyboard. So it won’t affect a running mix.
It also appears to happen in slower WiFi connections more often, like it needs to think a moment then jumps out and then shows first tidal suggestions for the two or three letters that I just typed in.
You’re welcome. Interesting observation regarding WiFi.
- Does this issue only happen with the Tidal search field or also with the Local Music search field?
- Is it possible that you are accidentally touching any controls on your MIDI controller when this happens. I was able to replicate the issue by touching the Browse knob on my controller which causes the cursor to jump out of the search field.

Ive been having similar issues for awhile now myself - when using the search box (in apple music) it will take me out of the search box while i’m typing - causing all kinds of havoc when hotkeys are now being inadvertently pressed. I thought maybe i was typing too fast, or maybe it was acting up if my internet connection was weak and it couldnt search properly - but it has been hard to pinpoint! I haven’t been able to intentionally cause this to happen, so I’ve just been typing very carefully - but it still happens quite often!
This behavior doesn’t present itself when i am searching my own (local) files, only when i am utilizing apple music.
And like your problem - It does occasionally just log me out of apple music as well, requiring me to log back in and link my apple music account - sometimes more than once per session!
I haven’t had the time to try and make a screen capture of what is going on, so i’m glad someone else has spoken up!
If there is anything i can do to help test things, please let me know!
Hi @mp3juggle, I’ve moved you other post over here. For now, I recommend that you disable the hot keys during your live gigs like @Timo_Fielker has done to prevent accidental behavior.
Thanks for the tip - I do use the keyboard shortcuts most of the time though (I rarely use an external controller) - but just disabling the space bar shortcut would probably be enough for now!
Thanks for the quick response, and your efforts!
Hey! It also happens without a controller connected, but I will test my browse knob right away.
@mp3juggle somehow I’m glad I’m not the only one But this is a much greater issue when you are actually using hotkeys on the keyboard.

You’re welcome @mp3juggle
Okay my browse knob is a very loose one by now, but it only jumps out of the search field when I turn the knob clock wise and it jumps to the first song under the search field. When the explained issue happens it jumps nowhere. So I think it does not have anything to do with the browse knob. And it also happens without a controller connected. In my normal library it does not happen but i rarely use it these last few Months. The issue appeared for the first time after the recent update to 5.2.6
Thanks for checking and the additional info @Timo_Fielker. This is very helpful.
Interesting topic!
In the beginning, I also struggled with all the shortcuts. After accidentally pressing a shortcut during a gig a few times, I discovered that there are actually quite a lot of them. I eventually ended up drastically reducing the number of active shortcuts.
Now, I only use the Spacebar for previewing the selected track, the left and right arrow keys for moving forward and backward in previews, and one hotkey for toggling the library expansion. This setup is sufficient for me and works much more conveniently and trouble-free.
I actually believe that Djay shouldn’t enable these shortcuts by default without informing new or inexperienced users about them. It can lead to significant issues during performances. My suggestion would be to leave them deactivated by default and allow users to enable them as needed.
Well, thats the thing - Ive been using this program for years, mostly controller-less, 4 or 5 nights a week!
This behavior has started happening within the last month.
The first time or two I chalked it up as me just fat fingering it, or palming the touchpad or something… but every so often I actually catch it (the red outline in the apple music search box) disappear after typing letters - but not pressing any other keys.
I also considered it may a hardware problem, like my keyboard was malfunctioning - but i have seen it happen with my bluetooth keyboard as well. I also haven’t seen any signs of it in other programs (office apps, notes etc).
I like using the keyboard shortcuts, and consider them pretty essential - but I do need to sit down and customize them a little bit, I have just been using them as-is.
Anyhow, thanks for chiming in on the potential issue!
So I had another gig last night. Thanks to deactivated shortcuts on the keyboard confidence is totally back! I had about 6 encounters of the issue last night. Again the observation is that the club WiFi is not that great so the issue appears to be there more often.
Is there any news to it?
Best,
Timo
