Syncing My Collection Playlists between Devices

With 5.2 release, how is this not a massive issue now? Organization on one device to use another for performance is table stakes in other apps. I, like others here, was so surprised this does not work out of the box. Any idea if this is even planned?

Any updates about this topic? Yesterday I made my first gig using Jay pro with my TT and Mac, but I had no imported playlists. Was a pain but the software was fine. This feature is a must, because I work with 2 computers and a can prepare everything on my iMac, and then port my MacBook to play in a easy way.

Just adding my voice to the management of files and collections across devices debate. Is the ‘solution’ now to subscribe to Apple Music? Because if so, wow…

I couldn’t believe this feature doesn’t exist, strongly supporting this feature!!!

Apple Music won’t help either, because you cannot manage (i.e. re-order or delete tracks) Apple music playlists in djay Pro. You can do that in Tidal, but then you can’t use other streaming services or local tracks.

I read this whole thread and I’m a bit surprised.
So in summary:

  • The playlists within the djay pro collection do not sync across devices
  • On Windows and Android there is no way to sync cue points and beatgrids

Am I missing something or is this really not supported?

Correct to both! Sadly true (for now)

Hello,
But iTunes does it sync playlists between device.

It’ll sync cue points, but not Beat grids and each device will analyse independenlty.

A way to do this outside of the apple music app would be great. Most people have a library for personal listening then one for DJ’ing. For example I have a few hundred songs in my apple music but around 7000 in my DJ folder. Would love to sync these tracks / playlists etc and not deal with itunes/apple music. A great way would be the files app (icloud storage).

Hey @djchase ,
I’d like your opinion on why you avoid Apple Music.

I love DJAY, but it’s not truly a cross device app until playlists (and possibly sessions and history) are synced. This feature should’ve been added like yesterday. It’s such a waste of time trying to cross-play. I usually DJ on the Buddy with my iPad, but sometimes I play on my Mac or my iPhone in different situations. So I have to recreate playlists or go through history on another device and then try to add one by one. And what if I forget the device the playlist is on or the device crashes and I need to use a backup device? I’m F-ed.

This should be possible:

  • Making most of the playlist on my Mac
  • Adding/removing songs on my iPhone while on the road
  • Attaching my iPad to my controllers and playing, knowing my playlist is in sync

Please please add this by 6! It is the biggest pima. Thank you.

Hey @slack_jaw is there a way to sync what we save from the DJAY music collection to our own Collections? With Apple Music being down, I’ve been exploring the DJAY music collection and saving them on my Mac. I’d love to be able to do that on the road on my iOS device as well, but it seems like I can’t access any of the playlists I’ve created on my Mac on my iOS device. Any tips or workarounds on this can help greatly

One possible solution could be to consider adding the ability to export/import playlists in M3U8 format to djay pro.
It might be helpful to note that these files are essentially universal and are accepted by many systems, programs, and players.

It might be a good idea for the developers to consider adding a cloud storage option inside djay pro where such files (playlists) could be stored.

In order to synchronise not only playlists, but also CUE tags, as well as Start Automix and End Automix CUE, colour tags, group tags, etc. meta tags, it might be helpful to consider developing your own meta tags and writing them directly into the file itself.
Such a file could then be opened on another computer or phone regardless of the system, with the added benefit that djay pro will read the metadata from the file and display it in the programme.

request is 4 years old and still not developed into app. Why?

Wow, this is still not available in the app?

Jesus…

Again, I strongly suggest rethink the whole library synchronization between all devices!

After 2 years using I just realized that, how library works in all devices is very garbage.

• On Mac there is a function - Related Songs, on iOS this function is missing- WHYYYY?
• Same as MATCH songs, on Mac works without log into any streaming service, WHYYY need LogIn to use this feature on iOS?
• If I want create a session (just call now- gold) based on different libraries (My Files, Local Music, DJ Music, etc) on Mac then want to use same (gold) session set on iPad, why not synchronize that session too, like the whole library have synchronized? WHYYYY need export a csv file then import it instead just synchronize it? I don’t have words for…really-
• Still no refresh button for whole library + Whyyyy need to relaunch the whole app to refreshing the library -for example- in Local Music library if something have been changed in it?
The list is endless, stability of DJay is rock bottom. After released DJay 5, we have still in bedroom…

…Are YOU listening to US? Are you working on these? I want to knowing before invest for a new M2 iPad Pro!

It could be a patent.

Every time I come back to DJAY from Rekordbox I encounter this same problem
Music management and playlist sync between devices.

It’s just hopeless

Total dealbreaker.

So frustrating

I have a question regarding a problem when trying to manually sync across iPad and iPhone (since this feature does not seem to exist yet).

I have copied the database file from “user” from iPhone to iPad. Then I copied the giant folder that has all of my music over from iPhone to iPad and put it in the same place (root folder of “on my iPhone” to “on my iPad”.

So when I open the playlists on iPhone I see all the playlists I created and that’s cool. However all my tracks are greyed out and “not available”. How can I just make them all show up without having to go selecting song by song? This is such a headache and feels so unnecessary. Why isn’t there an option to point to the entire library folder and sync playlist data? Can djay just look for them?

I’m even ok with manually copying from the most recent device to the other one to keep them manually sync’d. But why do I have to deal with greyed out tracks on top of that?!

Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong here?

I feel your pain…!

The greyed out tracks can be re-activated by doing a “relink” operation. @Slak_Jaw explained how earlier in this thread (February 22, 2024).

Basically you have to re-import your “giant” folder as linked files in the “Files” section. Then you add all those linked files to a dummy playlist in “My Collection”. You can delete the dummy list after relinking. Now the tracks should no longer be greyed out.

The big problem with this work flow, is that on iOS/iPadOS you can’t just point to the root of your “giant” folder and import recursively. You have to go down into each subfolder that contains audio files and add all to the dummy playlist. Very impractical if you have a deep structure with many subfolders.

To work around this annoying issue, I flatten my “giant” folder from my Mac into a single folder. This flattened folder can then be imported in one go on iOS/iPadOS, and relinked into My Collection.

One issue I have now, is that iCloud sync of cue points and auto mix start/stop points etc. does not work. I don’t know if it is related to this way of keeping the DJ library synced across devices.
